There is a new AltPorn site in the mix and although we retired our world famous AltPorn site name generator, it’s spirit lives on in the “Dangerous Dolls” title they have chosen. The Dangerous Dolls recently converted from a free alt-themed social site to a full on pay site, offering all the bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from this genre, including forums, blogs, event calendars, friends lists, personal messaging, chat room, interest groups, etc. The site navigation is nicely done and pretty clearly organized and there is a decent amount of member participation and activity. And yes, they do have some sexy content too!

The Dangerous Dolls splits their photo sets into two categories. They have pro sets provided by their photographers and DIY sets the girls can submit themselves in hopes of getting $60 if approved. Right now Dangerous Dolls has about 134 pro photo sets and 111 DIY sets, and although they claim to update with a new doll photo set or video every day, looking at the post dates over the last month or two, it looks more like an average of one pro set, one DIY set, and maybe one video clip goes up an average of weekly. That’s not too bad, but it isn’t what they claim in their tour. I do like the photo set display navigation, which offers a few different ways to look through the sets, and some of the sets are really nice looking and hot. Many of the sets have a fun amateur alt-model feel, but a few of the sets have been kicking around the web for quite some time. Anyone familiar with this genre will recognize some content that has also appeared on several other sites over the years. Some of those other sites have long since gone under, so maybe you will get lucky and find your favorite missing series of Scarlett Pain or whoever again and be happy. It just makes me nervous when social altporn sites have developed but inactive profiles for girls and the only photos they have are sets I know have been available for $9 open license for about two or three years now. Maybe I should demand a verification photo on friend requests. A lot of the photo sets are fresh and fun though, particularly the more recent ones.

The Dangerous Dolls has a nicely organized video section which now features about 58 somewhat eclectic looking clips. None of them worked for me, but I probably need some sort of plugin. I’m using the current version of Opera, but the video files just broke down into gibberish characters. Judging by the comments, they do work for other people though, and I’m sure if I put some effort into trouble shooting, I could get the problem fixed. I have to say that I don’t have this problem on any other video sites though. Content wise, the video is a mix of personal webcam clips, pro solo porn clips, and assorted randomness, including commercial promo clips put together for advertising The Dangerous Dolls. The members do seem to enjoy this area.

They do have an impressively robust video chatroom that I found to be fairly active. It offers the option to hook your own webcam in and chat face to face with other members and models. I like the entertaining and creative events that they schedule for their live video chat area too, including Strip Pictionary, Naked Webcam Scavenger Hunt, Topless Trivia Thursday, and more. Many of these events even offer small cash prizes for members. This seems like a fun and sociable idea and offers a good non-creepy way to get to know other people from the site.

Overall, The Dangerous Dolls is not a perfect site, but it’s pretty well done in comparison to many new startup AltPorn sites we’ve seen. I don’t like how they began as a free and open social site, invited people to participate with that expectation, and then suddenly switched to a full on pay site with a very professionally designed sales tour. I also don’t like sites that make unsupportable claims in their tour hype. “This isn’t your Dad’s Porn Site!” Well, literally speaking, I guess that’s probably true, but you actually don’t know my Dad at all. I’d rather not think about him while I’m checking out hot naked girls, but if he did have a porn site, it would kick your ass. It bothered me when Burning Angel said it years ago, and it still bothers me when Dangerous Dolls says the same thing now. “…we update every single day! No other alt site can say that!” Actually, there are other alt sites that can say that more truthfully than Dangerous Dolls can. Dangerous Dolls also says they are the “#1 Adult Alternative Community on the Web” which is absurd. There is no measure by which that is true. Not Alexa, not Quantcast, not membership, not content, nothing. Most of the established sites on our AltPorn A-List have stronger, more active, and more popular alternative communities. It’s a shame when sites with good potential ruin their credibility with false hype. I don’t want this to be a negative review. There are a lot of things to like about this site, but the claims I’m knocking down here are just from their front page alone. There is nothing wrong with being a pretty good new site that offers enjoyable features and content that your members really like, don’t ruin it with bologna.

We’ve featured Mette Th13teen and her sexy fun photography before, and now that she’s launched her multi-girl AltPorn social site Payback Baby, we thought we’d check in with her and see how it’s all going. From exploring Payback Baby myself, I can say that it’s already shaping up to be a friendly supportive and diverse community with a growing number of interesting people. Having it based overseas gives it a different feel. The people are not the same old scene we’re used to seeing on some of the more established AltPorn sites. Some aspects of Payback Baby do still need a little work, but that’s only because it really is a DIY project, rather than being launched by a multi-million dollar company pretending to be two stoners from Seattle or whatever. I really enjoy the photography, although I’m still not a fan of flash viewers at all, and I wish they used a sans serif font, but these are mostly cosmetic gripes and personal preferences. The site it’s self is enjoyable so far and I believe it will continue in a good direction. We’ve already made some really hot friends on Payback Baby and I love the general attitude of the site.

Payback Baby offers some of the same community features you’d expect form an AltPorn site these days, blogs, interest groups, polls, and that sort or thing, but what makes theirs more enjoyable is the people involved. The topics are fun and the members are worth interacting with. The photography is very stylish and sexy. It’s not quite as explicit as I might personally prefer in a membership site, but it has a quality I enjoy and it isn’t the same old thing over and over like some other sites. I can honestly say that Payback Baby is one of my favorite new AltPorn sites. Here is some more info on the site and what it was like to launch and such from Mette Th13teen herself.

How has the launch of Payback Baby gone so far? I’ve noticed some really cool people with profiles over there already.

It is going fine, better than expected when it comes to getting members but the members aren’t as active as hoped for, to be honest! The main idea with making it a community with personal profiles, was to give the members a chance to interact and have fun while looking at hot, naked women?! It sounds like perfection to me but I guess, most other fans of alt. erotica feel differently.. Hmm… I learned that the we have this thing called “Janteloven” here in Denmark – we are not that many alt. models in Denmark and certainly not that many alt. fetish models in Denmark so I did know that “Janteloven” existed.. The ignorance kinda blew me away though.. I try to just turn the other cheek, but I am not a huge fan of ignorance or arrogance so my temper took the better of me a couple of times before I learned to just don’t give a fuck a let them lead their own miserable existence without my opinion But other then that, it was kinda what I expected it would be! A lot of hard work, tears and sweat but totally worth it! What exactly is ‘Janteloven’?

Janteloven is a set of rules from and old Danish book in the 30′es that the Scandinavian people kinda adopted.. It lives well here in Denmark and basically it is these 10 commandments to live by. To sum them all up, it would be something like “Don’t think you’re anyone special or that you’re better than us” – I found a link that describes it very well.

Launching a new site, especially with all those features, is always more work than you probably think it will be. I can’t help but notice that the navigation is still a little quirky. What has been the most challenging part of putting the site together?

Probably finding a guy to work with on it, the 1st couple of guys bailed on me and with very little finance, it wasn’t easy! I did a lot of work on the site as it looks now but not all – I am not very good with codes and shit, so my bf did that and I am very happy that he came through for me… I know that the backend of Payback Baby! isn’t the best, but considering what we had to work with in the end, I am pretty damn proud of the site! I never cared about those things as a model, I cared more about getting my fair share of respect from the owners, getting replies on my emails rather fast instead of having to wait for months, that the site didnt look like complete and utter crap, the quality of the photo sets, that the site updates went up on time and so on.. So Im hoping that people care about these things too and in time, the sites backend will improve so be patient, guys Like you noticed it isn’t completely perfect yet but we are still working on it and still learning..

It completely depends on the community! If it is the getting the good old cock pic once in awhile that bothers you, Facebook or Myspace is way worse than these alt. erotica sites! In our case, it was actually photographers, film makers and so on. Before launching the beta site, a lot a those guys wrote my personally and gave me a really hard time; I would never get anywhere, no one would ever want to work with me and so on. Some even came after me personally, apparently I am butch, ugly, come off German (I don’t even wanna know what he meant by that) and so on?! After launching the public site, these guys had the nerve to come back and join the site, try to sell shoots to members and some of the models and so on.. That is why we made the changes in our Terms Of Use! No fucking way in hell, call me uptight and what not but I will not play that way and let those assholes prey on my ladies and members!

Other than that, its pretty basic; be nice to the girls, play nice and show some respect! Up until now, we have only had trouble with 1 model and 1 member that resulted in them leaving the site less then voluntarily and that is just fine with me! One of our friends, and new participating members here, just wrote a really nice review of Altporn.net and some of our new features for the crushes section of the recently launched Payback Baby site. After writing so many reviews of what other people are doing in Alt, it was really nice to see what people think of what we are doing here! Our new features have been live for less than a week and we are still struggling with some of the transition, but we are all very happy to hear that our readers are enjoying the new social options. We have lots of plans in store too. (Now if we could just get our comments to work.) Payback Baby is a fun site and it already has some really cool people participating, so be sure to go check it out.

Speaking of sexy alt-boys, several of our friends have contacted us about a new site that just launched called Home for Lost Boys. This new entry in the altporn genre was recently started by one of the girls from GeekGirlsOnline, along with several of her talented friends. They say they launched the site because they were tired of the dearth of cute alt-boys available for online viewing pleasure. Taking into account that we’re going to have to get a reviewer on board soon that actually gets off on hot naked alternative guys, in my opinion, the content here so far looks promising.

The rhetoric still leaves a little to be desired. In their site FAQ, for example, they answer the question:

Is this porn?
“We will never have explicit material on the site. Our models are not required to show full frontal, and nudity will always be tasteful and appropriate. Photographers and models have been blurring the line between art and porn for years, and we seek to further that movement.”

If they are trying to further blur the line, they should stay away from the absolute statements and implied value judgments. I don’t even know what some of that even means. Is hard cock more explicit than limp dick? It seems to imply that if they are always tasteful and appropriate and they are never explicit, one could conclude that they feel explicit isn’t tasteful and appropriate, which I do not agree with. Maybe an argument could be made that shirtless girls would be adult content a site could charge membership fees for, so maybe shirtless guys should be fair adult content to charge for too. But, for my money, I want to know I’m getting adult material worthy of at least a hard ‘R’ rating. I don’t see a single penis in their entire tour.

Despite their manifesto reading like an checklist of indie altporn site cliche’s, like notice that the site is “primarily run by women” as if that somehow makes any positive difference, I do think they have something people might enjoy, they just need more of it. They do get a bag full of bonus points for not telling us they are the ‘first’ of anything and I really do hear a lot about how hard it can be to fine sexy naked cool looking guys on the adult web. I just hope they get over their shy approach and commit to the fact that they have a paid membership site that should feature hot naked alternative guys. They need to jump in with both feet and go for it full on, because if they cling to the idea that their content may or may not get naked, depending on how they feel, etc. then Home for Lost Boys will fail.

I only hope that they understand that we really do want a good entry in the altporn marketplace that features nice photography (and video) showing stylish, attractive, fun, creative, cool guys, so this isn’t meant as pan of the site. It’s a new site and I hope that they think about some of this experienced advice and make the commitments and adjustments required for them to succeed. In the mean time, their introductory prices are not too bad, so check it out for yourself and let them know what you want to see in this sort of site.

Creative director Carlos Batts delivers the third in his April Flores centric art-porn series, which originally kicked off with Alter Ego. April has such good chemistry one film as well as pictures and it’s always fun to see more of her. Glamazons gives us some interesting voyeuristic insight into April’s sexy life as her sexual star rises. I would like to see a little more footage of things like her art-nude drawing parties and fan signings and other real life coverage, but I know there are also some people who might not be into more of that. From what we’ve seen it does have a bit of a documentarian feel than standard porno though and although it can come across as a bit indulgent in it’s production, these guys really are exploring their media and it’s fun to be along for the ride.

Babeland Premieres debuts their first ever porn release, The New Romantix by first-time filmmaker/ director Max Royale. The premise of the film starts with an interview of each of the six porn stars followed by a porn scene with one extra thrown in for good measure. The film is marketed as profiling “six beautiful, intelligent, funny, and amazing women on their passionate quest for sexual liberation and empowerment”. The girls in the film are hot (Joanna Angel, Ryan Keely, Riley Mason) and a few of the interviews are very good, in particular Ryan Keely who comes across as “beautiful, intelligent, funny, and amazing.” Joanna unfortunately doesn’t really seem to know what to say, looks uncomfortable and is a bit lame during her interview. Lexi Belle’s interview is shot in downtown LA with a graffiti backdrop, which is visually interesting, although she comes across a very young and a bit naïve. The girls talk about first-time sexual experiences and some of this is interesting and enlightening. I always love getting to know the performers better so this was the best aspect of the film for me.

I was hoping that the sex scenes would highlight their fantasies and “empowerment”, but only Ryan’s scene comes close to being empowering as she masturbates solo with a dildo and is in control of her own fantasy. Since she talked about lesbian encounters quite a bit in her interview, I was expecting a girl-girl scene with her, but unfortunately this was not the case. This is the only solo scene in the film, and most of the sex is girl/boy with two girl/girl/boy scenes that are more about the girls giving the guys double blow-jobs than about the girls getting it on together. So if you are hoping for a bit of lesbian/queer action, you won’t see it in this film.

Joanna Angel and James Deen have a lot of chemistry in their scene together and the sex is hot, with Joanna squirting several times. Lexi Belle, Lexi Bardot and Tommy Pistol romp and bounce in a bouncy castle, which was a novel idea and could have been fun. However, the atmosphere is ruined by the distracting music which drowns out any sexy nuances and moans it may have had. The sex is pretty typical and apathetic. Avy Lee Roth is a rock-chickita groupie who claims to be the daughter of David Lee Roth. She gets it on with a long haired guy in leather pants, but neither performance is especially amazing. Riley Mason is super hot and has a pool table scene with Daniel. This scene would have been great if the music wasn’t again so distracting, as Daniel is always fun to watch and such a pro. James Deen has another quick vignette with Joanna and Lexi Bardot as they compete to see who will get to suck his cock, and that’s about it.

The final scene is between Lexi Bardot and James Deen again and says it is shot with Infrared in total darkness. I’m not sure why they say this, as Infrared is not red (as the scene is) but B&W and highlights heat, not color. Usually people’s eyes glow and you can see their veins under porcelain skin with Infrared photography. Also, you can see shadows everywhere in this scene, which leads me to believe that it was shot with lighting and not in a pitch black room at all, as in blackness there are no shadows. So, not sure what they were trying to pull here, except they thought it would be a cool special FX for an Altporn flick? They do use a wide angle or fisheye lens to distort the image somewhat, but it does nothing to enhance the scene which is again ruined by the music.

There are just too many things wrong with this film to list how they may have improved it. Certainly having some connection between the interviews and the sex scenes would have helped with continuity and a connection to the stars. A girl-girl scene would have been fabulous to include and there could have been way more focus on the girl’s pleasure than the typical blow-jobs and facials. Also, the music should have been integrated much better into the overall soundscape. Finally, I’m not sure how well the final rendering of the film was, as my DVD set has a lot of pixilation in it throughout it. The New Romantix is an ambitious project for a first-time filmmaker that ultimately does not deliver. It is just the same-old, same-old, marketed with an alt-porn aesthetic, but there is really nothing new or interesting about it. I do look forward to seeing Ryan Keely in more films, as she was The New Romantix one saving grace. Hopefully, Max Royale will have a chance to redeem himself with future attempts.

We usually have a policy that discourages getting caught up in the hype of new sites launching in the AltPorn genre. So many of them make huge promises and a lot of them come off as disrespectful of the sites that are already successfully advancing artistic alternative erotica. They say things like ‘we’re the first to respect models’ and ‘we’re the first to feature real women’ and if you think about it, that’s really not true. We like to see them get their feet wet for a while and come back to them once they have been running long enough to learn a thing or two about what it’s really like.

However, our sexy Danish model/photographer friend Mette Th13teen just let us know about a sexy new site she’s on the verge of launching called Payback Baby, so I thought we’d break the rules a little on this one. Like many, it promises personal profiles, your own photo album (which many don’t offer), specialized user groups, personal blogs, chat, etc.. Plus quality photography of alternative erotica and more. They don’t have many people on their MySpace or their InkedNation promotional profiles yet, but we wish them success. Mette has a really good attitude and I think her heart and her head are in the right place. I also really enjoy Mette’s photography and modeling and her taste is quite good too, so I’m very interested in what she will put together for this project. Judging by the early samples, it looks like it’s going to be pretty hot. Keep your eyes on the horizon for this one.

Hospital (2008) is the latest film from Benny Profane who self-produced the gonzo-gothic series Psychocandy. I was interested to see what Benny Profane would do using a different, art-porn style like he has with Hospital.

The film stars Mandy Morbid and her real life partner Zak Sabbath. Mandy started off as a Suicide Girl under the alias Adria and transitioned into porn with her first non-sex role as a chorus girl in Bullets & Burlesque (2007), also directed by Profane. Since then she has appeared in two other porns doing sex scenes including Shades of Romona (2008) and Young Hollywood (2008).

In Hospital, Mandy plays Lucy, a punk chick who is admitted against her will into a creepy mental hospital where she is to undergo archaic treatments for her sexual deviancy. The film oscillates between the asylum and flashbacks of her life.

Hospital begins with a prelude with Lucy sucking a very huge cock (or at least it appears to be so with the morphed camera lens and stark spotlight halo that illuminates only her and said cock, with the background in blackness). A distorted electronic voice-over of a woman commences chronicling Lucy’s aberrant psychosexual behavior that is symptomatic “in its repetitive nature and inevitability”. She then awakes to find herself on a hospital gurney.

Lucy wanders the long, ill-lit halls and soon finds herself a voyeur to a naughty nurse scene between Caroline Pierce and Sochee Mala. Both girls have piercings and tattoos, but are not what I would describe as nonconformist or alternative. The performances lack enthusiasm using the typical type of girl-girl action: pussy licking, fingering and a strap-on. The scene ends, then Lucy undergoes a flashback.

Lucy and her boyfriend (Zak Sabbath) go to celebrate scoring some cash after a con-job on Kimberly Kane. This scene is hot as the couple fuck like pros and Mandy’s voluptuous body bounces with enthusiasm. Zak sports a wicked tattoo on the side of his head that was attacked by a zealous barber. The scene ends with a tit-fuck and then Jak pours candy hearts on Mandy’s sticky naked hot-bod. At one point during the scene there is happy Doris Day style music playing as they kiss and embrace in a mockery of “family values” ideology and the sweetheart candies are perhaps evocative of this.

Back at the hospital, Lucy is cuffed to the shower by one of the nurses and symbolically purified with a water torture treatment.

The scene then flashes back again as Mandy passes Marie McCray (both wearing identical Asian-styled dresses) in a stairwell where they pull a switcheroo and exchanges wigs. Marie then enters a room in an abandoned warehouse where Daniel is playing a video game. Marie removes her wig to reveal her strawberry blond pigtails and begins to seduce Daniel. There is nothing alternative about Marie, except for her striped stockings and funky shoes, but she is a pretty sweet. Daniel is a great performer and he has amazing stamina. He is genuinely passionate through-out his performance and seems to inspire the same in his co-star. I love the way he man-handles Marie with playful choking and spanking. The scene is shot from several great angles including high above which gives you a strange voyeuristic bird’s eye view of the action. Several times during the scene, it cuts back to the two nurses who are monitoring the action and taking notes.

The scene ends and we cut back to Lucy who has a strange spiked helmet on her head. She awaits her impending therapy, in which Dr. Profane intends to cut a hole in her skull to drain excess the blood. His attempt is halted by a pencil to the skull after Lucy untangles herself from white bandage bondage. She is rescued by Zak and Coco Velvett who speed her off to the nearest sleazy hotel and a fairly hot girl-girl-boy scene ensues.

Hospital is a good attempt at something different within the alt-porn genre. It is stylish with a good use of camerawork and sound elements. Profane doesn’t overuse “avant-garde” aesthetics like distressed film look, jump-cuts, white-outs, or excessive editing techniques that are typical of Eon McKai. On the other hand, it is not as “dark, squalid, and ominous” as I had hoped and there are many missed opportunities within the medical fetish genre that could have been utilized. No straight-jackets or medical paraphernalia to make for the atmospheric mis-en-scene I was hoping for. I was expecting dark and creepy, like Chad Michael Ward’s Pain Box series sexed up, but instead got Profane’s whacky alter-world with fairly standard porn. Mandy Morbid and Zak are hot, and Daniel is super-fantastic. This is a fairly decent art-porn and more significant (IMHO) than the Psychocandy series.

For a site listed in our AltPorn ‘A’ List, BrokenDollz has kind of been flying below the radar for a bit. As far as the genre goes, it’s one of the younger sites, but so far it’s showing some good signs. We recently took an extensive tour of what they are up to and it certainly looks promising.

BrokenDollz features a kind of homegrown social networking system for it’s members and dollz, with MySpace style profiles, private messaging, bulletins, personal journals, friends lists, testimonial comments, around 50 themed interactive groups, and all that fun stuff. Members can display several of their favorite dollz as well as their favorite sets on their own personal profile and even upload up to 40 of their own images. All of which makes the site very personal. The active membership base is currently not terribly crowded, but the people that do participate on the site are really friendly and personable. I’m sure people could actually find friends there and that is ultimately the goal of this sort of system. On the overall, we found the social networking feature set to be pretty cool and easy to understand, although still a little rough when it comes to look and feel.

The content has that sort of co-opish authentic feeling that some fans of the Alt genre tend to like, even if it comes off as a little less slick in it’s production. There are quite a number of sexy video clips generally featuring their select dollz in intimate solo masturbation scenes with vibrators and such. We particularly liked the clips of Scarlet Rose listening to her iPod on blast and buzzing her clit with a little pink vibrator. Her multiple climaxes came across as genuine and really hot and she seemed totally oblivious to the camera work, instead lost in her music and self pleasure. There is another entertaining section called ‘love letters’ featuring sexy little stroke fiction stories written by a bunch of their dollz and members, along with a few sexy pictures to go with them. Some of the stories even have accompanying downloadable MP3 files of the girls reading their naughty stories aloud, which we found to be a really nicely done bonus. The photo layouts are nicely varied with about 95ish dollz to choose from, many with multiple sets. These sets do tend to come off a bit on the amateurish side, as far as production goes, which potentially works for some people, but not so much for others. It’s really up to the individual taste. We liked quite a few of the layouts, but the image size still needs a little bit of a boost. The pictures run at about 550 pixels in the longest dimension, so the ones seen here are actually full sized, which is quite small by current standards.

One area which we feel could us a little improvement is the way they display current or most recent photo sets. We get the impression that they are working on this area, so maybe it will be in good shape soon, but right now it’s very difficult to look at the photo layouts in the order they were posted. The dollz are listed in a sort of most recent to first on the site chronological order, but the photo layouts are not currently listed that way, so members sort of have to look at the site’s outside tour pages to figure out what has actually posted lately.

So, on the overall, for a new site, BrokenDollz has some pretty cool stuff going on, even if they still have a few areas to work on. A lot of the dollz are hot and the growing community member base is interactive and friendly. It will be interesting to see what the site grows into over time, and for the current price of 20.00 for 3 months, it’s certainly worth checking out.
