When did you launch your GeekGirlsOnline site and what made you decide to do it?
Well, it officially launched the first week of October 2007, although it had been in the works since late June/Early July.
As far as what made us decide to do it, it had been an ongoing conversation for the past 4 or so years with my finance. We were always wondering why there were only a handful of geeky-girl porn sites. Being a geek myself, and not having the time to really be in front of the camera lately, I felt it was a great idea to start a site that featured real girls, that had interests similar to mine, since all but a handful of previous similar ideas had failed.
Your GeekGirlsOnline site seems very gamer oriented. Has the gaming community been receptive to what you are doing so far? Have you met any resistance?
The gaming community as a whole has been very supportive. There have been a few minor incidences of single groups not particularly caring for our site, as they see the gamer community as a “family friendly” society.
I look at it this way: Our site community is growing everyday, and our gamer conversations never seem to end. GeekGirlsOnline really was made as an outlet for geeks alike, and it’s not like we are going to all ages conventions and passing out fliers, or shoving it into people’s faces. But, on the other hand, we aren’t going to hide underground somewhere because a handful of people don’t like us. A lot of people in high school didn’t like me, but it didn’t stop me from being myself.

What do you see as the strong points of your GeekGirlsOnline site?
First and foremost, our community. Eclectic and intelligent, and always interactive. And, of course, our models. They are all geeky in their own ways, and love to show that off.

Which models that are not featured on your site yet would you most like to work with in the future?
That’s a toughie. I would love to have Morgan Webb, but the chances of that are slim to none. (hah). But I really would like Scar13, as I feel she is an extremely beautiful and intelligent woman.
You have personally appeared on a lot of sites. What sites have you been on and what have you learned from your experiences?
I started out on the original NaughtyGoth.com , and Eroticbpm.com. After that, I did spiceplay and Citykittie. Unfortunately, 3 of those sites aren’t around anymore. I have tried to take that into account with GeekGirls, and to not make the same mistakes that others had made before me.
It also makes it a lot easier to relate to models, as I have been around the business for about 4 or so years, and have had a few good tutors there to guide me, and show me the right and wrongs on the adult business.
What is your opinion of altporn sites that claim to be run by women but actually are not?
It’s actually the reason I didn’t go work for “that evil altporn empire” that shall not be named. I feel that it’s insulting to a model’s intelligence to claim to be run one way, and in the contract you sign away your life for 2 years to some guy whom you have never heard of.

What are some of your current favorite sites, particularly in the altporn genre?
Of course, Eroticbpm would be in that list, as they were my inspiration for getting into altporn. I would also have to mention BlueBlood.com, as they have given me something to aspire to be. And always have been a fan of JoyofSpex, even though they have kind of dropped off the face of the planet.
Nearly every alt-model we’ve seen lately claims to be highly intelligent, including many that seem to have their own opinions about how to spell the word. Who should we believe and why?
Ask them what Einstein’s theory of relativity is. Chances are, if they don’t know, they are blowing smoke up your ass. What it does show, is that brainy girls are very “trendy” these days. Everyone wants a smart girl, or a gamer girl, as they are seen as the “Unicorn” of the female species. Many guys are getting tired of the same blonde bimbo porn that keeps getting reproduced over and over again.

Is working with brainy girls different from working with regular girls?
Other than IQ and the ability to use a spell-checker…
Yes, it’s quite different. I have, on occasion, had to “dumb down” my language a bit, to better explain myself to girls around me. That’s not to say “regular girls” are dumb, I am just more accustomed to having conversations with a more intellectual vernacular.
Ever since the altporn classification has been recognized, there has been some debate about what altporn exactly is. How would you define altporn?
Honestly, I see altporn as any porn/erotica that stands out from the norm. Whether it’s tattoos and piercings, rainbow colored hair, or just girls that don’t like to shave, it’s all an alternative way to live life.
What is the difference between a geek, a dork, and a nerd?
A dork is that guy who was a class clown, but wasn’t really funny. He picked on you in high school, because he liked you, but you found his personality revolting, so you never gave him the time of day.
A nerd is a braniac. Someone who spends more time in a book, than in reality.
A geek is a combination of a nerd, a dork and a gamer. And normally has a very artistic side to them, whether it’s through writing or physical artwork.
Is geek culture alt culture?
I believe so. It is beyond the norm. How many 25 year old guys do you know that spend all week after work planning a game to play on a Friday night with a set of dice, a pencil and a piece of paper? The same guys spend hundreds to thousands of dollars a year on books for D&D (or other table-top rpgs), video games for their PC and have to buy the latest R.A. Salvatore book weeks in advanced.
Most would be out bar-hopping, or trying to scam for chics.

It seems like there has always been a crossover between the amateurs market and the altporn genre. Your site, and the girls you feature on it so far, seem to have a fairly homegrown amateur feel. Keeping in mind that altporn is not a binary yes or no label, how do you see your GeekGirlsOnline site fitting into the genre?
The GeekGirls are real girls. They aren’t living it up in some mansion in LA, they aren’t spending thousands a year on botox and plastic surgery to fit inside of society’s idea of beauty. They are themselves, and they stand out because of it. They speak their minds, and dress how they feel comfortable. I think GeekGirlsOnline will be one of many sites to revolutionize the porn industry in general, as it shows you don’t need fake tits to be heard.
Thanks for this opportunity!

I can’t even tell you how long we’ve been meaning to do this feature on super cool photographer and model Mette Th13teen. We love her attitude and her work. She really brings the right perspective to what really should be a creative, sexy, and fun genre, and we always enjoy seeing her work, both in front of and behind the camera.

You do great work both in front of the camera as well as behind it. What are the challenges to working both sides and what do you see as the advantages?
First of all, thanks! I don’t really see any challenges, only advantages.. Every time, I model, I can learn something new as a photographer, by watching the photographer work, and by asking questions if they work differently in some way. When I shoot people, I know, how it feels to be on the other side of the camera and can give advise to first time models because, I know how it feels and what works and what makes it easier and more fun.
Do you work primarily in Copenhagen, Denmark, or do you travel a lot for your work?
Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark so even though, there isn’t that many opportunities here, most of them is in Copenhagen, so I do most of my work here. As a model, I travel a bit around the country but mostly work in Copenhagen. I do some modeling work for people in the other end of Denmark, but those shoots mainly take place here as well. Its a bit different as a photographer, I do some traveling in Denmark but also around Scandinavia and Europe, that depends mostly on where my work for Scandinavian Tattoo Magazine takes place, tattoo conventions, interviews and so on.
Which came first, the modeling or the photography, and did one lead to the other?
I have been photographing, on and off, since I was around 13 years old, but until 2004, my work was a lot different. All my work was analog and black & white photos and I never used models. In 2004, I was asked to model for a Swedish photographer, that was my first time modeling, and I really didn’t like the pictures and I was like “I can seriously do this better than him” and that provoked me to start shooting models. I borrowed a camera from a friend and started shooting friends, to find out which style felt most like mine, lighting, which angels worked best for the different types and how to edit model pics in Photoshop and so on. And I have been trying ever since

As a model, what sites and publications have you appeared in?
Other than the various sites of photographers, I have worked with, I did a cover+article for Scandinavian Tattoo Magazine in 2004 and that was my first publication. Since then, I started modeling for Broken Dollz, both my sets for them, has been on Altporn, so I appeared there , an upcoming alt. erotic site called Perverse Fixation, which I am fucking excited about! I have also modeled for 3xL, a well known Danish rubber enthusiast, his webblog is one of the best in the fetish scene, if you ask me! Rock Confidential Magazine did a feature on me, I also do a lot rubber modeling for this amazing custom rubber designer called Heavyrubber, basically all my rubber has been made by him and I love it! There is a Danish site called publicfetishgirls.com, I have done some videos, of me wearing rubber in public, for them and I definitely will do more, that is really fun. I also modeled for Vandal X Klothing and for Wicked Ink, they are both t-shirt designers. My most recent job, was a music video for a metal band called Volbeat, that was a lot of fun, I have never done that before but I fucking hope that I get to do that again! I don’t really keep track and this is what I can remember I hope to do more publications, covers, music videos and modeling, because I really love that and it always adds an edge to it, when I model for stuff, that is going out there instead of “just” for my site!!

I just saw some of the beautiful covers you’ve been shooting for Scandinavian Tattoo Magazine. As a photographer, what sites and publications have you worked with so far?
I haven’t done much as a photographer, it’s not that, I don’t love it, but I do more modeling.. I work for Scandinavian Tattoo Magazine and that is my main thing, doing covers+posters+writing articles and so on. I shot some rubber sets for Heavyrubber.dk, some live shows for sceneskrekk.com, the site of a Norwegian freakshow – those pictures appeared on bmezine.com as well. I did a set for perversefixation.com and some work for flyers+posters for the largest Danish alternative online community. The last thing, I can think of, is a live shoot of a Danish rockabilly band called Wild Wax Combo…
What publications and sites would you like to work with in the future either as a photographer or a model?
Like I mentioned earlier, I would love to do more!! But I don’t have anything new planned, other than the sites, I already work with, like www.perversefixation.com, www.publicfetishgirls.com, www.heavyrubber.dk, www.brokendollz.com, Scandinavian Tattoo Magazine, www.lustlovelatex.com and so on.. I’m pretty excited about what the future brings and I´m open to any offer, I get!
I was just looking at your Th13teen.net portfolio site and saw some of the amazingly sexy rubber fetish photos you’ve been appearing in lately and it occurred to me that the European alt and fetish scenes seem to have a lot more crossover than they do here in America. Do you feel there are specific reasons the mix is better over there or are we just behind the times over here?
Thanks a lot! I actually don’t think that the European scenes cross over more than the American, not that I have noticed or know of. The Danish alternative scene and fetish scene, are both pretty small and we basically all know each other or of each other, there are really only a couple of alt. models that also does fetish shoots. The fetish scene is a lot bigger than the alt. scene here and we always have a lot of European and Scandinavian guests at the fetish parties, but I always seem to be the only alt. model that goes to the parties, but there are some fetish models there too! If anybody is behind the times, I would guess that it would be us, Denmark is pretty old fashioned in some ways and body modifications, fetishes and stuff like that, is still not really accepted and kept at home.. New things and change takes time here!
How would you define altporn and what should it ideally represent in your opinion?
Alt. porn is a huge specter for me! It contains everything that the fashion modeling and commercial world doesn’t and that is what I love about it! That there is room for people, that stand out and are proud of it! Not everybody thinks, that the perfect woman is blond, skinny as hell and has big boobs! There should be room for all of us, I think that, it is what makes us exciting – the fact that we are all different, individuals! Like fetishes, some gets a hard on from touching a balloon and some from checking out girls with tattoos, that gives us the possibility to actually learn something from each other..
The European adult/erotic/porn world seems incredibly more diverse than the mainstream adult industry in the States. Does AltPorn really stand out as much there as it does here?
It might really stand out more here, even though the scene is small, the people, that are a part of it, are proud of it and enjoy being themselves and expressing themselves the exact way, they love! We don’t have that many people “to look up to” so there are not really any guide lines and that probably gives room for more diversity.. I guess that forces us to take a stand as an individual instead of just following the “non-existent” mainstream adult/erotic/porn scene.

You have some great tattoo work, what are some of your favorite tattoo studios?
I would have to say Uncle Allan at Conspiracy Inc. – he is amazing and really respected all over the world! He did a lot of my work.. Besides that, it is really a matter of what tattoo style, you like.. But sticking to the Danish ones, Nick The Electric Pick is also incredible, he is Canadian but works with Uncle Allan at Conspiracy Inc. and Alex, a Scottish guy living here in Copenhagen, his studio is called Rites Of Passage, he does some kick ass realistic work! We talked about doing a little (big) something on me but you will have to wait and see
Does it make a difference to you if a site or publication is run by a woman or a man?
Not at all! The only thing, that matters to me, is respect!! Nothing more, nothing less…
If you could improve the altporn genre or culture, what changes would you make? What would you get rid of and what would you encourage?
I don’t think, there is anything, I personally, would change or improve – it is a very diverse world! Every site has its own manager and that manager is different from any other manager of any other site. Their personal taste, opinions and so on, comes out through the site and that is what, you judge the site on. In overall, I can’t really think of anything.. I have had very little bad experiences, the ones, I have had, are based on how the manager, wants their site to be and you can’t really blame them for disagreeing with me Some people in the culture might think, that they can do what they want, because the genre is some what small and leaves f.ex. models, with not that many other opportunities, so we “have” to settle.. They are wrong though, the culture is getting bigger and bigger by the day and still more and more people, accept and approve of it, but it is still small enough for the word to get out, so all they really do, is shoot themselves in the ass!

Since we are catching up on a few things. Here are the latest Compete.com rankings for our continuing AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study. Compete.com reports on a monthly basis, with statistic totals showing from the previous month. This means these are December 2007 stats, not up to the minute, according to Compete.com. The only real news here is the impressive entry of newer sites like GeekGirlsOnline and PunkGrl, hitting the chart in solid positions. CrazyBabe swapped positions with BlueBlood’s GothicSluts, as also reported on the QuantCast stats from yesterday. Otherwise, several sites slipped a slot or two as new sites entered the rankings.

We’ve had some shakeup in the monthly QuantCast edition of our AltPorn A-List Traffic and Site Popularity Study. Bob Coulter’s CrazyBabe pops up to the top of the chart, swapping positions with last month’s leader BlueBlood’s GothicSluts. SuicideGirls holds position two, followed again by BlueBlood’s BarelyEvil, also unchanged in position. The exciting news is the dramatic entry of GeekGirlsOnline, with a statistical debut all the way up in position seven. Nice work Athena Hollow! AltPorn.net slipped three spots, which we deserve for not updating for a couple weeks. Although, GodsGirls fell three as well. PunkGrl is entering the ranks well, up five spots, to position seventeen, and BellaVendetta has fallen the hardest of the group this month, losing six slots and ending up ranking twenty second of the AltPorn A-List.
I’d like to apologize, on behalf of everyone at APN. We’ve all simultaneously been overwhelmed with project work. I hear we may be interviewing for some more writer positions in the near future, so keep on the lookout for that. As always, we want to hear from you about new sites that should be ranked and added to the charts.

Happy New Year everyone. We hope you all had a good time and we look forward to a great oh-eight. This month’s AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study Alexa Edition brings us little change in the standings. BlueBlood’s punky BarelyEvil got a bit of a December bounce, moving up three spots to take the number three spot, rising above their GothicSluts site, as well as Bob Coulter’s CrazyBabe and NaughtyFlipside. It looks like NaughtyFlipside did just enough content to put out a DVD and had not put up anything new since. Should we keep them on the chart as long as they are live, or should there be a limit on non-updating sites? What are your opinions? On the lower rungs of the rankings, relatively young site PunkGrl continued to rise, up two spots, along with another recent addition LazerBunny, also up two spots. Plus, we’ve just added newcomer GeekGirlsOnline, which debuts in slot 21. As always, we encourage your suggestions for more ways to measure the most accurate public measures of AltPorn site traffic and popularity.

With school being so busy this time of year, all of us have been pretty preoccupied over here with family and holidays, I’ve slipped a little on providing the December QuantCast results from our AltPorn A-List Traffic and Site Popularity Study, but without further ado here it is.
Although SuicideGirls traffic continues a downward trend, they have risen one spot in the rankings to regain second place, behind BlueBlood’s GothicSluts, edging out BlueBlood’s punky BarelyEvil. NaughtyFlipside managed to pick up a few spots, even though they have not updated in what seems like forever. We, AltPorn.net, have fallen a couple spots, probably due to more sporadic updates around the holidays and finals. DarkPlay seems to have gotten an interesting boost, while DeviantNation and NoFauxxx seem to be trending down this month.

We managed to miss the late November Compete.com edition of our AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study, due in part to Thanksgiving, but some of the feedback we’ve been getting would indicate a desire to measure and publish the various third party traffic and popularity statistics on the same days. We’ve given it some thought and we’ll give it a try. So, along with today’s Alexa chart, you also get the Compete.com chart, both measured on December first, 2007. If this is popular, we may move the QuantCast measures and charts to the first of every month for the coming year 2008 as well.
The December Compete numbers are a little more interesting than the Alexa measures, or at least there is a little more positional movement. BlueBlood’s GothicSluts, as well as their BarelyEvil sites have moved up significantly in estimated monthly visitors taking spots two and three respectively, knocking CrazyBabe down to position four this month. We (AltPorn.net) have actually grown in visitors this month, up 55.4% over last month (six weeks really) and up an impressive 383.4% for the year. BrokenDolls is also bumping up significantly, while InkyGirls have fallen off a number of spots. Compete.com still doesn’t have measures for the newcomer sites PunkGrl and LazerBunny, which I feel they should have by now, so no measures for them yet.

Continuing in our Alexa edition of the AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study, the December numbers are fairly similar to the November numbers. DeviantNation and BlueBlood’s GothicSluts have knocked the waning former number two site NaughtyFlipside out of it’s position and taken the number two and three spots again. GodsGirls seems to have moved up over BlueBlood’s RubberDollies, and a handfull of the bottom rung sites have moved up as FatalBeauty closed shop from the number seventeen slot.

Whoa! Some thing are shakin’ in this month’s AltPorn A-List Traffic and Site Popularity study, QuantCast edition. Both BlueBlood’s old school pre-SG alt sites BarelyEvil and GothicSluts have beaten out long time pole position holder SuicideGirls, which dropped to position three, as well as Bob Coulter’s popular CrazyBabe site, which dropped two spots as well. NaughtyFlipside has taken a significant dip, which just goes to show what happens when you don’t do updates for two months. DeviantNation enjoys a bit of a bump up, rising four spots, along with BellaVendetta which also rose four spots. We welcome the addition of new AltPorn sites PunkGrl and LazerBuny to the QuantCast tracking chart this month, and have removed FatalBeauty, as it has just recently closed.

The November AltPorn A List Alexa numbers are in. It looks like BlueBlood’s GothicSluts jumped up a couple spots during the month of October, rising above Bob Coulter’s CrazyBabe and BlueBlood’s BarelyEvil. DeviantNation’s numbers are still a bit inexplicable, given that Alexa is the only traffic and popularity measuring tool that seems to have them ranked anywhere near this high. If someone can find another reliable measure, let us know. RazorDolls seems to have risen above EroticBPM this past month as well. We’ve added newcomers PunkGrl and LazerBunny to the mix and we’re debating the inclusion of NaughtyFlipside. We had high hopes when they launched, but their updates seem to really miss the mark when it comes to this genre and they have not had a new update since late September. Their AltPorn content just seems really costumed and although this is more acceptable in the AltPorn video market, we kind of expect the A List sites to be based a little more on reality. Hot girl with nice body mods does really sexy things on video sounds good, but following the badly scripted exploits of a fake band in awful makeup and worse clothes just doesn’t seem to fit the spirit. It might appeal to people just fine, but we’d like to encourage a more real life approach with our AltPorn A List sites. Not everyone here agrees. What do you think? Let us know.
