Seeking AltStar Awards & Expo Event Staff

We are very excited about our new Vegas venues and it is time to staff up. The AltStar Awards and AltStar Expo have opportunities for event staff.

Event Staff – a variety of positions, including handling the guest list at the door, keeping the red carpet organized, checking journalists in and giving out press passes, collating swag into gift bags, handing out gift bags, and generally assisting with making sure everything goes smoothly. For these positions, while event experience is a plus, we are primarily looking for positive and responsible people from the community, who know how to be polite interacting with stars, and would like to earn a few bucks helping with a really fun and fabulous event.

Event Managers – responsible for supervising event staff and making sure everything is going well, from collating swag into gift bags, to ensuring trophies are properly set up and furniture and lighting is where it should be, to making sure signage is correctly hung, to ensuring the hosts have everything they need, to making sure there is someone to greet VIP guests and guide them to the red carpet, etc. This could be one person, but this event has a lot of moving parts, so this is more likely to be different individuals in charge of specific parts e.g. managing gift bags would be one and managing conference days and managing the awards themselves will likely be different positions. For these positions, we are looking for people with event management experience. We prefer those who come out of the alt scene. Must be comfortable interacting politely with famous people. Hiring experience is a plus.

(3) Can you lift items which are 30lbs? (only required for some positions)
(4) Have you ever used GoPassage or Eventbrite or any similar ticketing system?
(5) Would you describe yourself as detail-oriented?
(6) What sorts of events have you worked or volunteered with in the past?
(7) Do you have experience in customer service of any kind? (a plus, but not required)
(8) Have you worked for us before in any capacity.
(9) Anything else you’d like us to know?
