It always strikes me when I happen upon a set that is so clearly and distinctly oriented towards an artistic approach. While the concept of art itself is debatable, it cannot be denied that the effort and skill poured by Liesl in these pictures is set towards sending a clear emotive message to the viewer in an aesthetically oriented manner.
There are clear choices here, of subject, color, dress, lighting and costume, that clearly mark the set’s willingness to communicate, a clear design and a very well executed atmosphere. A decadent, gritty ‘realism’, using her great body as a way to underline a sense of exploitation and pessimism.
That was the long version; the short one? I loved it.
