AltStar Magazine Feature Interview Layout Guidelines
Our format is sexy, safe for work, non-nude, pinup style photos, ideally with an alternative style.
A bikini or lingerie (not too see-through) is a plus.
We like to have 10 to 16 images in a series with varied poses in a consistent look (same shoot) More is better.
You are welcomed to submit examples of looks from a few sets, but be prepared to provide more from the look that is selected (Basically, don’t submit single images if you don’t have more from that series to make a consistent layout with.)
We prefer mostly vertically oriented photos (ideally ≥ 3375 pixels tall or more; ≥ means Greater Than or Equal To)
The occasional horizontal photo in a series can sometimes be worked with (ideally ≥ 3375 pixels tall and/or 5175 pixels wide; ≥ means Greater Than or Equal To; we can sometimes work with slightly smaller images, but this larger size is best)
We can sometimes work around watermarks, but it’s really better without them.
We will credit the photographer.
If you want significant retouching done, it’s best to submit photos where you have already done it.
Please provide any photographer credits that are appropriate.
Please only submit photos you have rights to use.
We can’t promise a magazine cover, but it’s a lot more likely if we have options that fit our layout format. So, when considering poses to include, please take a look at the examples we tend to use on AltStar magazine: ( https://altstarmagazine.com ) Front facing, three-quarter, arms not too wide (hand on hip is ok), expressive with good eye contact with the camera.
When shooting images, it really helps if they are not cropped in too tightly. Having a little room to fit images on a magazine page (different dimensions than a standard photo), or run some interview text makes the layout much nicer.
We look for authentic alt style, so dress like yourself. Please do not wear branded swag with logos on it; the only exception to this is that it is ok for part of your outfit to have MyFreeCams written on it, but please do not dress like a merch store.
If you are a photographer looking to shoot features, we highly recommend submitting to some of the membership sites we cover and collaborating with models from MyFreeCams who we have not featured in the magazine yet, especially if we have featured them on the site.
Photographers are also welcome to send over a portfolio via the contact form or, if we are already working together or corresponding, via email for consideration for assignments. Please mention where you are located and any specific models you would like to shoot if applicable.
AltPorn.Net and AltStar Magazine Event Feature Layout Guidelines
We run galleries of photos from events of interest to AltPorn.Net readers and run favorite images from these galleries in AltStar magazine in print, with a focus on red carpet images. Submissions should fit this format. We are open to photos from conventions and workshops as well, so you can pitch if you feel you have something appropriate in mind.
We prefer mostly vertically oriented photos (ideally ≥ 700 pixels wide or more; ≥ means Greater Than or Equal To)
The event should either be specifically oriented towards the alternative side of things or the people you choose to photograph at it should be mostly those with an alt vibe or who create in the alt community.
If you are thinking of shooting an event, we welcome pitches via the contact form or, if we are already working together or corresponding, via email but please do not tell people you are from AltPorn.Net or AltStar, unless this has been approved beforehand.
We also welcome pitches for events you have already photographed, either immediately after the event or, for annual events, when the event is about to happen again.
Photographers are also welcome to send over a portfolio via the contact form or, if we are already working together or corresponding, via email for consideration for assignments. Please mention where you are located and any specific events you would like to shoot if applicable.
