Several times PureTaboo has brought us forward in the future to look at our own society’s extremes of today. In this particular movie, however, the feeling is that of being taken back in the past. A rich entrepreneur (David Lord) forces a deal on his lesbian daughter (Jane Wilde) to marry (and have the marriage consummated) or being excluded from the inheritance. This, to “correct the problem” with Jane being a lesbian – what a shame for the close minded bourgeois, an unbearable taint on the sacred bloodline which was so precious for nobles and therefore has been made precious for the bourgeoisie, too.
Bound by a deal worthy of a Roman landowner or a Medieval baron, Jane brings home her chosen husband (Dante Colle), and manages to show proof of the wedding. Her father insists in having proof of consummation as well, and Jane delivers that directly in front of his eyes, but – as for an heir – she has a surprise in store…
Dahlia (Jane Wilde) is looking over a contract intently while an older man, Roger, silently sits across from her. The atmosphere is business-like as Dahlia flips through the pages, although the discomfort between them is undeniable.
