This installment marks the fourth and final part of Grinders, and while I know that all good things must come to an end and I’m gonna miss Lucky and his friends, this episode wraps things up in a beautiful way that made me well up a bit. That’s how awesome a job AdultTime’s done with this film.
The beginning of the end sees Lucky (Lucky Fate) arriving at the “end of the world” party on New Year’s Eve of ‘99. When he arrives, he finds the whole gang there, including Morgan (Maya Woulfe), whom he is happy to see and spend some time with before she goes back to Austin.
The theme of the film comes up again here, “live in the moment” as a party and skating montage takes place preparing everyone for the arrival of the new millennium, and as the countdown begins and the new year arrives, Lucky and Morgan finally share a loving kiss that opens the flood gates of the emotions they’ve both been holding in, and they go share a more intimate moment on the roof.
This is a sex scene that starts quite romantically, with Lucky and Morgan kissing each other first, slowly exploring each other’s bodies as they gradually get more aroused and more naked, letting their feelings for each other guide them where words can’t. This makes the scene they share very rewarding, and as they continue giving in to their desire for one another, things begin growing in intensity, always with a romantic undertone to every thrust, lick and suck they share. In the end, they sleep together after Lucky tags the roof with something to mark that happy occasion in his life, and for the first time in the film, it all feels like it could work out for them as they cuddle together.
The next morning, as Morgan prepares to leave, she once again asks Lucky to join her, but he rejects the offer and literally walks away from her, going back to his friends. Here, and thanks to the footage that Kim (Chalotte Sins) has been recording throughout the film, we learn a bit more about what Lucky feels he’d be giving up if he decides to leave, as he sees the group as more than friends. He sees them as family. Nevertheless, the footage has an unexpected effect on Lucky, as his eyes fill up with tears when he sees Morgan in Kim’s footage, and finally accepts to himself that she is important for him and he truly loves her, so he decides to go after her. The problem is, Sgt. García (Liv Revamped) and her partner (Tyron Love) hold him up, threatening to arrest him and stopping him from going after Morgan.
In the end, and to help his friend, Paul (Nathan Bronson) decides to do the right thing for his friend and comes through for him. He turns himself in so the cops let Lucky go and he can reach Morgan in time. However, he won’t be able to make it if he is chasing her with his skateboard and asks Sgt. García for help reaching Morgan now that she’s seen he is trying to turn over a new leaf.
The film ends on a beautiful high note that looks towards the future, with a cheerful message that both wraps up the story and reminds us that sometimes an ending can be a new beginning. A perfect farewell for this moving and arousing work of art written by Shawn Alff and Directed by Ricky Greenwood.
