As everybody’s schedule is in flux right now, we have room for some new voices from the community. There are a lot of fun and creative things to cover in the world of alt and we are seeking more alt.porn reviewers and reporters. We are looking for dedicated individuals genuinely interested in what AltPorn is all about and what the latest news is. It doesn’t pay a lot, but it can be a fun project, writing reviews of AltPorn photo and video updates and cam shows from cool sites. Once a writer is established with us, there are also opportunities to do interviews for AltStar magazine, review toys, go to events, and more. Established writers also become part of the panel of judges who determine the finalist nominees and the winners of the AltPorn Awards each year. If you are interested and feel you can write entertaining opinions and evaluations of the sorts that we tend to post here, please read the qualifications needed below, get in touch, and we’ll see if we can get you involved.

You would be writing entertaining, witty, even a bit humorous, article blog posts, in a conversational natural voice, about assigned alternative AltP0rn photo set updates, galleries, video clips and/or livestreams, with your own personality and charm. This involves formatting the post in WordPress and selecting (or screenshotting) and uploading a couple sample images for each post. You should know what alternative erotica is and have an interest in writing about positive artistic presentations for a knowledgeable audience familiar with the subject matter.

Personal authentic journalistic voice and writing skills required. Site, toy, or video/DVD blogging experience preferred. Sense of humor a plus.

Autumn is upon us and AltPorn.net is offering another round of opportunity to help us keep up with the creative things being done in Alternative Adult. We have a few openings for aspiring alt.porn reviewers and reporters, if you have the chops. There are a lot of fun and creative things to cover in the world of Alt and we could use some help. APN Welcomes Thomas Roche

I just wanted to wish new APN writer Thomas Roche a warm welcome. I have to confess that I’m excited to have my own byline next to his. I’ve seen his work for years in all sorts of dirty and scary and scary dirty books, zines and web sites. His personal site Skid Roche used to have more stuff on it, but it looks like he has done a redesign. The new version does have some luscious free fiction on it, so that is a nice plus, even if there is less to look at there overall. For the past fifteen years, Thomas Roche has curated a performance art and live reading night called My Sucky Valentine. If I were ever in San Francisco for February 14th, I can’t see any woman I have dated being happy about being invited to attend My Sucky Valentine with me, but I can dream.

Thomas Roche writes:

Hi. I’m Thomas Roche. Sometimes known as Thomas S. Roche depending on whether the editor is paying attention. I have been writing professionally part time since I was about 17. I’ve written or cowritten, edited or coedited ten books, plus about another forty under pseudonyms, shhhhh don’t tell. In addition to the 10 published books (two horror, two horror/fantasy, three erotic crime-noir and three erotica) I have written more than 400 published short stories and more than 400 published articles. The stories break down in very rough terms to about 100 in the genres of horror-fantasy-crime and about 300 erotica stories. Most of my nonfiction has covered sex education topics, erotica & porn, but I’ve also written extensively over the years on crime and fantasy fiction and dark music.

I have also been a Medical Editor and Project Manager at Foote, Cone and Belding Healthcare (1991-1997) the nonfiction editor at Gothic.Net (1997-1999), reviews editor at GettingIt.com (1999-2000), content release lead at Libida.com (2000), books editor at Universal Studios’ 13thStreet.com (2000-2001), and Web Editor (2000-1), later Marketing Manager (2001-2004), at Good Vibrations.

Additionally, since 1996 I have been an instructor at San Francisco Sex Information, where as part of a team I teach twice-yearly 60-hour trainings on sexuality for volunteers on SFSI‘s phone lines as well as therapists, nurses, writers, teachers and sex educators.

I used to write a whole lot of horror fiction and the occasional fantasy or science fiction short story but have sort of vanished into other worlds at this point. I still write some crime fiction and read a hell of a lot of all of it. My main fiction reading interests are ’20s through early ’70s noir, Victorian sci-fi and crime fiction, and horror and fantasy from the Victorian era through the ’30s. As far as nonfiction goes, I love military history and true crime, especially books on organized crime 1900-1980.
