She spends the match bouncing between the usual Fortnite priorities such as finding decent loot, trying not to get caught rotating late and resisting the ancient temptation to investigate every distant gunshot like it personally insulted her family. There is always another chest to open, another suspiciously unattended weapon on the floor and another player lurking nearby who has apparently been waiting three business days for someone to walk past.

The real danger, naturally, is the third party. Winning a fight in Fortnite does not mean the fight is over. It means the dinner bell has been rung for every other squad within approximately seventeen postal codes. But LexaLuv is cooking!

All of those bright lights are going on thanks to Overwatch. She’s in the middle of an intense battle that has her jumping and sliding through enemy ranks. Seeing in action is a fantastic way to learn some tips and tricks, but all of my focus right now is away from the game and on how beautiful she looks with her top off.

The run along the water looks calm, but Fortnite has trained everyone not to trust calm. A quiet riverbank is rarely just a quiet riverbank. It is usually a temporary hallway between two fights, watched by someone crouching on a hill with a scoped weapon and the patience of a tax auditor. Swimming might be faster, but it also turns the player into a loud, highly visible loot piñata.

This is not a problem for the pro that is LexaLuv, however. No, she is the hunter and she has her sights set on a lot of prey.

One moment it is just a nice jog through the grass with the squad alive and healthy, next moment somebody is pinging a building, somebody else is already too far away and the whole team is pretending there was a plan. Overtime is lit, the payload is crawling forward on life support, half the team is already dead and they are out there on full support-duty trying to keep the whole circus taped together with a shield, an armor pack, and blind faith. This is not casual gaming anymore. However, the best part is how calm they look while the match is clearly one bad push away from becoming a tragic case of support diff in the public record.

One DPS is off sightseeing, the tank thinks corners are optional, somebody is spamming they need healing from another zip code, and they are still trying to play objective like the only person in the lobby who remembers the payload does not move on motivational speeches alone. KomoBear has a shield up, mace out, trying to keep the team alive while everyone around them behaves like they were raised in quick play.

There’s definitely an objective up, at least two bad pings going off and one teammate with the survival instincts of a Victorian child. Meanwhile she’s sitting there with the kind of focus that says she is personally trying to stop the entire team from turning a winning game into a 45 minute Greek tragedy.

It really is the full experience. Farm lane, group up, lose one fight, suddenly the enemy has Baron and everyone starts moving like they’ve never met before. Lthuriella looks like the only thing holding the match together is mechanics, spite and the small remaining belief that maybe this time the team will stop facechecking bushes. They won’t, but the hope is cute!

I see the nice little early game, decent loot, squad alive and then suddenly it’s gunfire from three angles, a storm closing in and some cracked teenager building a five-bedroom apartment in six seconds.

I see all the flashlight cones, ugly little corners and that perfect co-op horror silence right before someone turns around and discovers the monster has been standing there like it’s waiting for customer service. The squad is supposed to be quietly hauling loot back like professionals, but R.E.P.O. always turns into four gremlins arguing over who broke the expensive thing while the monster repossesses everyone’s ankles.
