The beginning of the end sees Lucky (Lucky Fate) arriving at the “end of the world” party on New Year’s Eve of ‘99. When he arrives, he finds the whole gang there, including Morgan (Maya Woulfe), whom he is happy to see and spend some time with before she goes back to Austin.

The theme of the film comes up again here, “live in the moment” as a party and skating montage takes place preparing everyone for the arrival of the new millennium, and as the countdown begins and the new year arrives, Lucky and Morgan finally share a loving kiss that opens the flood gates of the emotions they’ve both been holding in, and they go share a more intimate moment on the roof.

This is a sex scene that starts quite romantically, with Lucky and Morgan kissing each other first, slowly exploring each other’s bodies as they gradually get more aroused and more naked, letting their feelings for each other guide them where words can’t. This makes the scene they share very rewarding, and as they continue giving in to their desire for one another, things begin growing in intensity, always with a romantic undertone to every thrust, lick and suck they share. Nevertheless, the footage has an unexpected effect on Lucky, as his eyes fill up with tears when he sees Morgan in Kim’s footage, and finally accepts to himself that she is important for him and he truly loves her, so he decides to go after her. The problem is, Sgt. García (Liv Revamped) and her partner (Tyron Love) hold him up, threatening to arrest him and stopping him from going after Morgan.

In the end, and to help his friend, Paul (Nathan Bronson) decides to do the right thing for his friend and comes through for him. He turns himself in so the cops let Lucky go and he can reach Morgan in time. However, he won’t be able to make it if he is chasing her with his skateboard and asks Sgt. García for help reaching Morgan now that she’s seen he is trying to turn over a new leaf.

The film ends on a beautiful high note that looks towards the future, with a cheerful message that both wraps up the story and reminds us that sometimes an ending can be a new beginning. A perfect farewell for this moving and arousing work of art written by Shawn Alff and Directed by Ricky Greenwood.

The first part of this film takes us back to the 90’s to meet Lucky (played by Lucky Fate), a young man who loves to skate, party and paint, mostly tattoo and graffiti designs. There’s just not enough time, given that Morgan is returning home soon.

Lucky also has a run-in with his father, played by Tommy Pistol, and this brings us a strong scene that reveals more about Lucky and his past, as well as establishing what a great actor Tommy is, since he is characterized superbly as an aging man who has learned a lot of life lessons the hard way; and while he tries to help his son out, he sees him as a lost cause, a disappointment, which he reveals to his girlfriend Vicki (Vicki Chase), leaving Lucky heartbroken and angry as their relationship remains in tatters, and he vents in the only way he knows how: through his art.

This theme about his inner thoughts coming out whenever he paints is great, because it gives the character more depth and further establishes his skill while at the same time it helps us know more about him and what’s to come in future episodes, like when he finds an old drawing that stirs something in him, revealing his quest is also secretly about a girl.

The membership price has gone up a bit, from about $20 to $29.95 a month, but they now offer some sort of ‘restricted/limited member area’ 3 day trial access for just $2.95. And really, nobody makes AltPorn like BurningAngel, so if you like their stuff (and we do!) it’s probably worth it. BurningAngel does still have a ‘pardon our dust’ notice up, as they transition the last bits of their content over from the older system and work out a few of the kinks on their new functionality, but on the overall the site looks really good. Fans of their video will love the new video section and pages, which offer lots of ways to sort and browse their video library, by most recent, highest rated, most popular, and even highlights up-cumming updates. Each video can be played at a variety of size and quality specs, including different mobile formats, and there are a number of different options for downloading the videos as well. The photo layout area still needs some work though, which is a shame since AltPorn photos tend to be our favorite thing. The new photo viewer does have several fancy new features, including different sorts of zoom, huge original photos (1280×1920!), and the option for a full screen viewer. The full screen will be pretty much a requirement for photo fans, since the regular screen option runs the thumbnails in a row under the actual pictures and can’t be turned off on it’s own. So, even on my 1980×1020 monitor, the larges size I can see a whole vertical picture is 447×661. Fortunately, in full screen mode, I can view the same pic at 639×967 pixels, which looks really nice. There also isn’t currently any listing of who the girl is, who the photographer is, what the description of the set is, but there is a convenient link to the matching video, when available. You can sort the photo sets by most recent, most viewed, and top rated, which is a bit confusing since there doesn’t seem to be any way to actually rate the pictures or sets that I can find anywhere in the interface. On the overall, we found the social networking feature set to be pretty cool and easy to understand, although still a little rough when it comes to look and feel.

The content has that sort of co-opish authentic feeling that some fans of the Alt genre tend to like, even if it comes off as a little less slick in it’s production. There are quite a number of sexy video clips generally featuring their select dollz in intimate solo masturbation scenes with vibrators and such. We particularly liked the clips of Scarlet Rose listening to her iPod on blast and buzzing her clit with a little pink vibrator. The pictures run at about 550 pixels in the longest dimension, so the ones seen here are actually full sized, which is quite small by current standards.

One area which we feel could us a little improvement is the way they display current or most recent photo sets. We get the impression that they are working on this area, so maybe it will be in good shape soon, but right now it’s very difficult to look at the photo layouts in the order they were posted. The dollz are listed in a sort of most recent to first on the site chronological order, but the photo layouts are not currently listed that way, so members sort of have to look at the site’s outside tour pages to figure out what has actually posted lately.

So, on the overall, for a new site, BrokenDollz has some pretty cool stuff going on, even if they still have a few areas to work on. A lot of the dollz are hot and the growing community member base is interactive and friendly. It will be interesting to see what the site grows into over time, and for the current price of 20.00 for 3 months, it’s certainly worth checking out.

• Sped up movement is also not really cool — I don’t get off on watching movies on fast-forward, ya know?
• Did the girl come in the first scene? The guy sure didn’t. I think we’re on another scene now, which seems to involve two chicks (Riley Mason is one of them) on a kinda cool couch in an old HS nurses’ office.

• The music is good. Whoever handled those aspects did a good job. It gives a pleasingly atonal, avant-garde vibe to the proceedings. I find it impossible to masturbate to, but it’s cool. It’s something you’d probably play while fucking your sister in a David Lynch movie.
• A lot more variety in scenes and shots in this section. I like it. Right now it’s kinda what you hoped Beyond The Valley of the Dolls would be, except without the hippie jive. The two actresses seem to be pretty into it. And then the scene ends without either having an orgasm.
• I just realized, I don’t think the dudes got any credits in the opening.

• They seem to be lighting this current scene, a MMM+F orgy in front of a stag film, with flashlights.

• There’s very little dialogue in the scenes so far. Not just script dialogue, but moaning, dirty talk, etc — it’s almost entirely absent. This is a big reason I personally don’t find the flick all that arousing.

• Clown again. This guy is the best part of this movie. And hey, it’s Joanna Angel! He just spit on her! Awesome.

• Chick from the first scene is back now in a new scene, where she fucks a couple guys, once of which I just realized looks like Jason Newsted. The scene is fairly hot, actually, although it’s also less “arty” than the others.

On to disc 2…

• The outtakes seem to mostly be extended sequences of the chicks dancing around and touching themselves, as well as some more fun with the clown dude.
• Now I’m watching the making of bit. The dialogue is still way too fucking quiet. If you need some help compressing and boosting that shit, Jack, let a brother know. But it’s kinda interesting stuff, although I wish there were a lot more interviews and less cinematographic moments. I also wish it actually talked about the filmmaking process more; most of the interviews are about the actors themselves. That’s not a terrible thing, but I’d like to know more about the creative process.
• I kinda wish I hadn’t seen the chick from the elevator scene interviewed. Sometimes it’s better to see the performers perform, not talk about… well, anything.

It seems as if this was filmed so that it could easily be edited, cutting out any shots of actual penetration, to air on something like The Spice Channel. There are a plethora of far shots, and obtuse angles used, such as close-ups on seemingly random objects, and other weird directing decisions, including varying the playback speed so that the actors seem to be moving like The Flash in at least one scene. It’s lame. I had hoped for much better camera work (then again, I always do), but the real surprise is the almost uniformly horrible lighting. It’s extremely harsh in most scenes, leaving the actors completely washed out. Good lighting isn’t all that tricky. The insane part is that sometimes the video quality is very high and this can, at times, look very slick and well made. Just not during the sex scenes. You know the most important parts of a porno…

The fucking itself would have to be spectacular to overcome the poor cinematography and lighting, but it’s simply not. I had a picosecond of hope during the first scene where the guy seems to actually care about what he’s doing and allows himself to get into it long enough to playfully pull his partner’s hair a little. She does not react well, so he immediately stops and things go right back to them both being nearly silent and acting more or less as if they’re running out the clock on their scene. In another scene there is a few seconds of anal action, but it’s filmed 1992 style, with only an extreme close up for the (very short) duration, so I think that a “stunt butt,” or even stock footage, may have been employed. The same footage seems to be looped in again later that scene. The director was likely forced into using this trick because the guy seems to have a real problem keeping his erection (as do most of the guys in the movie), which kinda of seems like a prerequisite for a porno actor.

The scene with the black guy is, not surprisingly, the best one. He at least seems like he’s having a good time, as does the gal he’s boning. But even that isn’t exactly spectacular.

Just for fun, I watched the included trailers, and ended up wishing that I’d been assigned any of the other films.

If all you want is to see several ultra-hot naked “Punk” chicks (and who doesn’t?!), this might be enough. Providing that you can ignore the other 99% of what’s going on.

Alter Ego, the new film from Carlos Batts, is very, very much in the artsy erotica camp; properly emphasized, the ARTSY erotica camp. AE is a carnival of sensuality and skin and bent gender in slow motion, reminiscent of David Lynch and, less frequently, Andy Warhol.

AE is Carlos Batts’ tribute to April Flores/Fatty D, the voluptuous erotic performer and “super muse” who slides effortlessly between phat azz lowrider chica, living porcelain doll, and deadly stitched-up horror vixen. Batts’ moody, ethereal imagery captures a wide-ranging series of Flores’ erotic experiences, some of them sexy, some of them disturbing. Slow-paced and set to a stew of electro and hip-hop, it’s the kind of thing you watch in a quiet room at 2am when no one’s awake.

The altporn scene is just taking off in the mainstream adult industry, and it’s likely that we’re going to get a lot more punk/goth porn vids on the market. I’m not complaining, because I dig watching punk rawk girls get it on bigtime, but films like Alter Ego are important contrasts to easier-to-swallow porn. We need works like this to remind ourselves of the wide-ranging possibilities of erotic art.

The visuals are pro. You may go through the albums and find some pictures that look like a trained monkey took them, but I doubt it. From what I’ve seen, the people behind the camera are people that were meant to be behind the camera.

Updates are virtually a daily guarantee. BA is currently holding an art contest, lasting ’til the final week of August. They promise the winner’s piece will be used in their printed publications and on whatever internet shit they deem appropriate for. They also have friends, who have friends and other friends, who know some people who need some superior artwork from time to time, and BA will make sure they know your name. Sounds good. I like that whole ‘patron of the arts’ thing. Not sure if they do contests like this often. If not, they should. Other things on the site not directly related to porn are the interviews with the people who do stuff and have hair and wore that shirt last Friday, and music reviews to help you make wise decisions when expanding your collection of noise.

The site is pretty easy to use, if you can read. The one thing that irks me is that the boy/girl & girl/girl sets are tucked deep inside the “girls” pages.
