There are other plush holidays out there, like National Teddy Bear Day and Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day, but this one’s for the whole crew, including dragons, bunnies, horses, unicorns, cats, dogs, and all the various critters and cryptids out there. Nobody’s totally sure when National Plushie Day started, but some say it came about because people felt like Teddy Bear Day was kind of playing favorites, so they wanted a holiday that included ALL the plush animals, not just bears. Every plush animal should have its moment. Some folks mark the occasion by posting plush pics online, hosting swaps, crafting up new fuzzy friends, or ordering up plush companions for their current menageries. National Teddy Bear Day is on September 9th and National Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day on the second Wednesday of October. But they’re all basically about the same thing: celebrating those soft, huggable toys that make life a little cozier. National Plushie Day is just the most inclusive. Plush Animal Lover’s Day is about celebrating every squishable, no gatekeeping required.
