With a mission to deliver “A Modern Take on Sensual Erotic Fetish” Erotic Sky magazine has burst onto the scene and garnered some truly impressive accolades. This fun and sexy pin-up style magazine done by Lyric Sky and Salacious Perceptions, comes in both print and digital formats and has the honor of winning Best Magazine awards in both the 2024 Urban-X and AltStar Awards. It features an interesting mix of some of the most exciting new performers, with a strong gravity towards tattoos and modern urban aesthetics, as well as showcasing a refreshing range of beautiful body types. The interviews with the feature models are quite brief, but still entertaining, and the steamy lingerie style photography is high quality work. I particularly liked the layouts of Lacey Jayne, Hazel Grace, and Cassidy Luxe, from their volume 6 issue, but there are so many more hot features to enjoy. They also offer individual digital photo sets and behind the scenes videos from their photoshoots for the super fans on their website. I can’t wait to see more.

I originally came across Blue Blood magazine in print in Tower Records in the 1990’s. Inside its glossy gothic pages, I found a little advert for a punk humor zine called BLT from the same Maryland zinesters. I sent off like eight or nine dollars in the mail and got a whole bunch of these hilarious little half size zines. Super anti-social and very funny. Assuming you can laugh about tips for picking up punk chicks regardless of sexual orientation, dating rocker guys, syphilis treatments from the 1800’s, the rise of fetish clubs, and walking in on roommates having sex in punk rock group houses.

I can definitely laugh about those all-too-familiar (except the syphilis) things, so I am very excited about the new Kickstarter to celebrate BLT‘s 25 year anniversary. The nice people from Blue Blood are hoping to do a giant 400 page omnibus of every BLT article ever. I’m going to back this project on Friday, when I get paid. I really hope it is successful because I would love a BLT book with all that hilarious writing and T-shirts with that BLT artwork look!

BLT was my first publishing project as an adult. My friends and I did it from various different punk rock group houses. It is hilarious as fuck, especially if you’ve ever spent time in dark smokey clubs or science fiction conventions and related haunts. It was distributed primarily at sex shops, punk boutiques, SF&F and RPG conventions, and in the aforementioned dark smokey clubs. (I managed an adult boutique called Night Dreams, so the sex shop distro just seemed logical.)

I used to get a lot of letters from people who assumed a zine called Black Leather Times was a porn or fetish mag of some sort because it had leather in the title. Especially after it got written up in The Washington Post and such, so a lot of people from very far afield heard about it. So I thought about what sort of adult mag I’d like to be producing, as there seemed to be a demand, and I started publishing Blue Blood magazine in print. Which, of course, eventually led to BlueBlood.com and its suite of spooky naughty membership sites and this SFW entertainment site and a bunch of other cool stuff.

In all fairness to those titillated by the Black Leather Times moniker, BLT has had a lot of funny and insightful writing about sex and fetish and dating. Ever wanted to know how to use stage blood for birth control? Wondering whether to share your crack cocaine on the first date? Considering the finer etiquette points of threesomes? Want to be a goth-industrial strength heartbreaker? Want to pick up punk rock babes? Considering jobs where you have to read things (translated from a Japanese scientific study) like “sperm was harvested from male rabbits using an artificial vagina”? BLT has you covered. Back the BLT Kickstarter and you can get 400 pages of appallingly humorous advice like this

Burning Angel just had the third issue of the Burning Angel magazine released by their publishing partner Magna Publishing, who are also responsible for Club, Velvet, Genesis, Gent, and others. This one looks like a hot one too, with some great girls featured in their glossy layouts like Moretta Coxx, Indigo, Shay Ryan, Ladie Lane, Maven, Kleio, and Krysta Kaos! The magazine also promises some coverage of on-set antics, some music coverage, and more in depth profiles of some hot Burning Angel talent. The cover price is a little steep compared to other smut magazines, but these are probably destined to be collector’s items.

I think one of my favorite things about BlueBlood, maybe my most favorite thing about BlueBlood, is that they will have full photo sets of magazine quality fashion photos, only with naked hot people. I saw the Antiseptic Fashion photos Amelia G and Forrest Black did of long-legged tattooed redhead Crash for Marquis magazine, but I love being able to see the whole series of my favorite outfit from the magazine. It is just a really perfect marriage of high fashion and hotness.

I’m very happy with how this layout of Crash wearing an amazing Antiseptic Fashion corset and sort of feather warrior epaulet came together. Amelia G and I put this together for the last issue of Marquis magazine and I think it really shows off the detail of the corset design and compliments Crash’s form. I did try out a makeshift fill light for a few of these and although it added a nice little something, it also pretty much managed to catch fire, but all went good regardless. Hanging out with Crash and Antiseptic Billy and Eirek Aswang while shooting these was a lot of fun. I really like getting to work with talented creative people I also enjoy as people.

I love love love this new BlueBlood update of Kellie LaPlegua. Forrest Black and Amelia G shoot a lot of magazine work, in addition to all the sets they shoot for BlueBlood. Apparently, part of this shoot is going to be in the next issue of glossy European fetish mag Marquis, but the whole set is in the BlueBlood members area. The photography shows off both the subtle varied flesh tones in the couture being modeled and the beauty of the model. Burning Angel: Magazine Issue 2 Released

The second issue of Burning Angel’s magazine has just been released. From what I saw in the first issue, it will feature lots of hot layouts from the Burning Angel site and a few interesting stories and interviews. This project is done in partnership with the people over at Magna Publishing, who are also responsible for Club, Velvet, Genesis, Gent, and others, and although the production is slick and professional, I wish the Burning Angel magazine had a little more of a homegrown ‘zine feel. It has hot layouts, which you can see more of on the site, but it still really feels like some Jersey porn mag publishers got their hands on some ‘wild’ tattoo broad content. If I had no internet and no DVD player, this would be good to have around, but you really can’t say “This isn’t your Dad’s porn” when it’s being put out by the people who do Swank. Still, if you want to stock your bomb shelter with your favorite Burning Angel girls so you won’t miss them when the power grid fails us, this is your ticket.

Love: Beth Ditto

I can’t decide if I love Beth Ditto or I hate her. I am not alone in this. Every time she is mentioned anywhere, there are those declaring their love for her and their hatred. The argument seems to center around whether she is a genuinely alt person who has received a gratifying amount of media attention or if she is just a shameless self-promoter who will do (or claim to do) anything to get her name mentioned.

Beth Ditto is a Southern Fried BBW frontwoman for a sort of punk Portland band The Gossip and she takes her clothes off occasionally and gets a surprising amount of mainstream attention in England for someone who doesn’t shave her armpits and dates a transgendered person. This week, Love magazine debuted their first issue with Beth Ditto on the cover. Love is a new magazine from, believe it or not, mainstream corporate publishing giant Condenast. Condenast also publishes Vogue, Glamour, Brides, Allure, Golf Digest, and Wired. In 2006, when NME, in a departure for them, ran a nude (hairy armpitted) photo of Beth Ditto on its cover, it declared her the “coolest person in rock” for their yearly countdown. Last year, Spike (men’s television) declared Beth Ditto one of the seven “baddest women in rock” and Condenast’s Glamour declared her the International Artist of the Year for 2008. Supposedly Beth Ditto first took her clothes off with her transman lover for the lesbian magazine On Our Backs, but I bought what I thought was a complete collection of On Our Backs at a garage sale a while back and I can’t seem to find her pictorial. If anyone has that issue, it is supposed to have come out in 2003 and you can contact me care of AltPorn.net and I’d really like to see her spread.

In the media kit for Love magazine, Condenast tells prospective advertisers that the concept of the mag, with its one and a half million dollar launch promo budget, is to cover areas of music and art which influence fashion. This sort of makes sense of putting someone fairly alternative on the cover. Love is also planned to be distributed primarily in England and in cities important to the fashion industry. The problematic issue for me in these situations is that I know so many people who have some of the characteristics of a Beth Ditto who never ever ever get mentioned in mainstream press. Condenast might think an unashamed, sexually adventurous, fat woman with hairy armpits is radical, but don’t you know more than one of those? This makes me wonder what is different about her.

I do have to admit that I distrust the alt cred of anything out of Portland claiming to be cool these days and that is really not Beth Ditto’s fault. I think we all know who is to blame for making everything supposedly altcool from Portland of questionable credibility. Love Beth Ditto or hate Beth Ditto, think working for Condenast is punk subversive or sell-out loser, the cover of the first issue of Love magazine is pretty hot.
