AltPorn Genre Estimated Monthly Visitors Traffic Study November 2009

AltPorn.net has gotten a lot of mail from people who miss our AltPorn Traffic and Rankings stories, so I’ve been invited back for another addition. This installment covers the QuantCast Estimated Monthly Visitors metrics. Quantcast has earned itself the reputation as being the most accurate traffic analysis tool available to the general public and is widely accepted as being far less gamable than other popular measures. QuantCast has changed their rankings reporting mechanism since my last traffic study installment and now only reports statistical numerical ranking measurements for sites that actually include their ‘Quantified’ measurement tool directly in their code. However, their Estimated Monthly Visitors statistics are still available for all. EMV is a good stat, as it gives a realistic feel for how many visitors a site is really getting in an average month, so that is what we will be using. We’ve tried to compile as complete a site list as we can, although we do exclude solo girls sites. If you have sites you feel should be included, please contact us and make your suggestions. For example, we debated the inclusion of Zivity, contact us if you have an opinion either way.

You will notice the addition of a few new AltPorn sites, some of which are doing phenomenally well, such as My Emo Bitch and Amateur Emo Girls. These sites reflect the recent popularity of ‘ex-girlfriend’ sites in online adult. They operate on the pretense that angry boyfriends upload embarrassing naked pictures of their former girlfriends for everybody to see. It’s depressing that this sub-genre is as popular as it is, but it goes to show that being popular doesn’t always mean being cool or good. These sites should still be included as they do reflect a realistic assessment of what people are looking at these days though. You may also notice APN has made a few adjustments to the AltPorn A-List. Inactive sites like RazorDolls are being removed. RazorDolls was a fun and sexy site, but it hasn’t updated in years. It was a good example of the AltPorn genre, but sending people there to join a dead site seemed wrong and/or unfair. We’ll hold out hope RD gets back on it’s feet, but for now it joins the ranks of ManicJane, FatalBeauty, SpicePlay, CityKittie, PornForPunks, and all the other dead AltPorn sites that once had interesting alternative content we’ve enjoyed.

These statistics are best evaluated as relative, rather than absolute. If you feel your favorite site gets more visitors, then consider that all sites measured probably get more visitors, as they are all measured with the same criteria. For example, judging by our own internal stats measures AltPorn.net gets an average of 101,000 unique visitors a month, but QuantCast only counts 57,868, and we’re actually Quantified. Deviant Nation: MissyStarr Pink TuTu

I’ve always had a thing for fluffy undergarments and although I’m not sure TuTu is the correct term for what sexy MissyStarr is wearing here, I’m not going to complain. It’s looking hot with the matching striped socks and I really like her expressive face too. I think some of this set could have had either less or more artistic use of depth of field techniques. It’s hard to tell in some shots if it was intentional or just a byproduct of the lighting and I would have enjoyed a sharper detailed focus for some of the shots, but it’s still a sexy Deviant Nation set.The lack of sharpness could also just be a result of Deviant Nation‘s funky display size detector though. I’m not using the highest resolution screen and their system tries to fit the image to your settings. So, I have no idea if this is full size or not.

Chixor and Stitch, sounds like a 70’s tv show with lots of car chases and snappy slangish repartee, but it’s really two girls I can’t get enough of, now together on Deviant Nation. I’d love to see both these girls bound up and suspended together, but watching Chixor tease and toy with sexy Stitch is a real treat too. This series really does need a strap-on or two though.

Good creative underwater photography is always a real treat. It’s pretty difficult to get good expressions, elegant poses, flattering light patterns, and so many other challenging factors to all come together. I really enjoyed checking out this Deviant Nation debut set of a sexy tattooed pierced, scarified Gothic girl by the name of AutopsyAlice. You can’t see it in this sample, but she’s got some really interesting autopsy scarification bisecting her entire torso, and the effect of seeing a girl with markings only usually familiar on the recently dead posing casually breathless at the bottom of a pool made for a really ghostly feel.

BlueBlood: Trashy Fashions… Literally

One of my favorite things about the altporn genre is that the women in it tend to be more than just a hot face and body. BlueBlood‘s Amelia G recently wrote an article about shooting clothing made of trash at a strip fashion show at an unusual strip club in Portland. The strip clubs in Portland are known to have all kinds of tattooed hotness. The sexy trash clothes were all made by BlueBlood model Rachel Face. This is the same girl who is known as Rivets on BurningAngel, Rachael Reckless on DeviantNation, and Marie on SuicideGirls. Anyway, I like that Rachel Face does creative crafting and I like that BlueBlood does news coverage on what their models are doing, like the Trash Factory article, along with the most awesome free gallery of tattooed hotness evar.

I have had a lot of fun in Portland before and I’ve shot a bunch in Portland before. So I was down for a trip, a few weeks ago, when long-time Blue Blood hottie Rachel Face called me up and said that she’d been designing disposable clothing made out of trash and she was having a fashion show she’d love me and Forrest Black to come up and do some press coverage on. She had messaged me online about shooting some new sets for BlueBlood.com and I often enjoy shooting trips more if there is an event to shoot. Rachel invited me and Forrest Black to stay at her place, but we figured she would be crazed getting ready for her fashion show, so we stayed at EroticBPM HQ instead.

It’s not that Rachel didn’t tell me excitedly about how there would be all these strippers there. Hot girls who dance in Los Angeles usually prefer to be called dancers, but Portland cuties throw the word strippers around all the time. Yet I hadn’t quite grasped the nature of the venue. The Trash Factory fashion show was at a club called Devil’s Point. Portland peeps are probably starting to smirk now, as it occurs to them what I did not know. Never having been to Devil’s Point, I had assumed the Trash Factory fashion show venue would be a nightclub with maybe some go-go dancers or maybe a place full nude dancers went to get a beer . . . when not actually, ya know, nude.

Humorously, I had not realized it was an actual strip club. Doh! Nonetheless, the Devil’s Point people were helpful and nice and the photography did turn out awesome, if I do say so myself. Check the photos out here and check the club out when in Portland.

Altporn A-List Compete.com: January 27 2008

Since we are catching up on a few things. Here are the latest Compete.com rankings for our continuing AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study. Compete.com reports on a monthly basis, with statistic totals showing from the previous month. This means these are December 2007 stats, not up to the minute, according to Compete.com. The only real news here is the impressive entry of newer sites like GeekGirlsOnline and PunkGrl, hitting the chart in solid positions. CrazyBabe swapped positions with BlueBlood‘s GothicSluts, as also reported on the QuantCast stats from yesterday. Otherwise, several sites slipped a slot or two as new sites entered the rankings.

AltPorn A-List QuantCast Rankings January2007

We’ve had some shakeup in the monthly QuantCast edition of our AltPorn A-List Traffic and Site Popularity Study. Bob Coulter’s CrazyBabe pops up to the top of the chart, swapping positions with last month’s leader BlueBlood‘s GothicSluts. SuicideGirls holds position two, followed again by BlueBlood’s BarelyEvil, also unchanged in position. The exciting news is the dramatic entry of GeekGirlsOnline, with a statistical debut all the way up in position seven. Nice work Athena Hollow! AltPorn.net slipped three spots, which we deserve for not updating for a couple weeks. Although, GodsGirls fell three as well. PunkGrl is entering the ranks well, up five spots, to position seventeen, and BellaVendetta has fallen the hardest of the group this month, losing six slots and ending up ranking twenty second of the AltPorn A-List.

I’d like to apologize, on behalf of everyone at APN. We’ve all simultaneously been overwhelmed with project work. I hear we may be interviewing for some more writer positions in the near future, so keep on the lookout for that. As always, we want to hear from you about new sites that should be ranked and added to the charts.

Altporn A-List Alexa: January 1 2008

Happy New Year everyone. We hope you all had a good time and we look forward to a great oh-eight. This month’s AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study Alexa Edition brings us little change in the standings. BlueBlood‘s punky BarelyEvil got a bit of a December bounce, moving up three spots to take the number three spot, rising above their GothicSluts site, as well as Bob Coulter’s CrazyBabe and NaughtyFlipside. It looks like NaughtyFlipside did just enough content to put out a DVD and had not put up anything new since. Should we keep them on the chart as long as they are live, or should there be a limit on non-updating sites? What are your opinions? On the lower rungs of the rankings, relatively young site PunkGrl continued to rise, up two spots, along with another recent addition LazerBunny, also up two spots. Plus, we’ve just added newcomer GeekGirlsOnline, which debuts in slot 21. As always, we encourage your suggestions for more ways to measure the most accurate public measures of AltPorn site traffic and popularity.

QuantCast AltPorn A-List Rankings December 2007

With school being so busy this time of year, all of us have been pretty preoccupied over here with family and holidays, I’ve slipped a little on providing the December QuantCast results from our AltPorn A-List Traffic and Site Popularity Study, but without further ado here it is.

Although SuicideGirls traffic continues a downward trend, they have risen one spot in the rankings to regain second place, behind BlueBlood‘s GothicSluts, edging out BlueBlood’s punky BarelyEvil. NaughtyFlipside managed to pick up a few spots, even though they have not updated in what seems like forever. We, AltPorn.net, have fallen a couple spots, probably due to more sporadic updates around the holidays and finals. DarkPlay seems to have gotten an interesting boost, while DeviantNation and NoFauxxx seem to be trending down this month.

Altporn A-List Compete.com: December 1 2007

We managed to miss the late November Compete.com edition of our AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study, due in part to Thanksgiving, but some of the feedback we’ve been getting would indicate a desire to measure and publish the various third party traffic and popularity statistics on the same days. We’ve given it some thought and we’ll give it a try. So, along with today’s Alexa chart, you also get the Compete.com chart, both measured on December first, 2007. If this is popular, we may move the QuantCast measures and charts to the first of every month for the coming year 2008 as well.

The December Compete numbers are a little more interesting than the Alexa measures, or at least there is a little more positional movement. BlueBlood’s GothicSluts, as well as their BarelyEvil sites have moved up significantly in estimated monthly visitors taking spots two and three respectively, knocking CrazyBabe down to position four this month. We (AltPorn.net) have actually grown in visitors this month, up 55.4% over last month (six weeks really) and up an impressive 383.4% for the year. BrokenDolls is also bumping up significantly, while InkyGirls have fallen off a number of spots. Compete.com still doesn’t have measures for the newcomer sites PunkGrl and LazerBunny, which I feel they should have by now, so no measures for them yet.

Altporn A-List Alexa: December 1 2007

Continuing in our Alexa edition of the AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study, the December numbers are fairly similar to the November numbers. DeviantNation and BlueBlood’s GothicSluts have knocked the waning former number two site NaughtyFlipside out of it’s position and taken the number two and three spots again. GodsGirls seems to have moved up over BlueBlood’s RubberDollies, and a handfull of the bottom rung sites have moved up as FatalBeauty closed shop from the number seventeen slot.

QuantCast AltPorn A List Rankings November 2007

Whoa! Some thing are shakin’ in this month’s AltPorn A-List Traffic and Site Popularity study, QuantCast edition. Both BlueBlood‘s old school pre-SG alt sites BarelyEvil and GothicSluts have beaten out long time pole position holder SuicideGirls, which dropped to position three, as well as Bob Coulter’s popular CrazyBabe site, which dropped two spots as well. NaughtyFlipside has taken a significant dip, which just goes to show what happens when you don’t do updates for two months. DeviantNation enjoys a bit of a bump up, rising four spots, along with BellaVendetta which also rose four spots. We welcome the addition of new AltPorn sites PunkGrl and LazerBuny to the QuantCast tracking chart this month, and have removed FatalBeauty, as it has just recently closed.

Altporn A-List Alexa: November 1 2007

The November AltPorn A List Alexa numbers are in. It looks like BlueBlood’s GothicSluts jumped up a couple spots during the month of October, rising above Bob Coulter’s CrazyBabe and BlueBlood’s BarelyEvil. DeviantNation‘s numbers are still a bit inexplicable, given that Alexa is the only traffic and popularity measuring tool that seems to have them ranked anywhere near this high. If someone can find another reliable measure, let us know. RazorDolls seems to have risen above EroticBPM this past month as well. We’ve added newcomers PunkGrl and LazerBunny to the mix and we’re debating the inclusion of NaughtyFlipside. We had high hopes when they launched, but their updates seem to really miss the mark when it comes to this genre and they have not had a new update since late September. Their AltPorn content just seems really costumed and although this is more acceptable in the AltPorn video market, we kind of expect the A List sites to be based a little more on reality. Hot girl with nice body mods does really sexy things on video sounds good, but following the badly scripted exploits of a fake band in awful makeup and worse clothes just doesn’t seem to fit the spirit. It might appeal to people just fine, but we’d like to encourage a more real life approach with our AltPorn A List sites. Not everyone here agrees. What do you think? Let us know.

Compete.com AltPorn A List Rankings for October 2007

Spurred partially by ‘Satan’ calling the QuantCast AltPorn A-List rankings reporting into question, but mostly because the more data sources we’re collecting from, the better, I’ve decided to add an additional reputable traffic and site popularity measuring tool to the study. Now we survey data from Alexa, QuantCast, and Compete.com, in order to give the most accurate reporting on AltPorn genre site popularity and traffic available from unbiased third party sources.

Interestingly enough, even though the Compete.com estimated monthly visitors seems to be a little off from the QuantCast estimates, the sites stack up remarkably similar in rankings. A few sites which are closely ranked switch places from chart to chart, but for the most part, we’re getting a fairly consistent snapshot of the state of multi-girl Alt genre site traffic and popularity. Compete.com offers another set of interesting data points, revealing individual site trends, measured on a monthly and yearly basis. This gives an idea of which sites are up or down from their previous month and year.

QuantCast AltPorn A List Rankings October 2007

Blame the goblins, our October QuantCast AltPorn A-List rankings report is a day or two late in posting. Near the top, BlueBlood’s GothicSluts swapped spots with their BarelyEvil site. NaughtyFlipside continues it’s rise in traffic and popularity, up from about midlist. And NoFauxxx gets a bump up from it’s previous bottom spot.

Altporn A-List Alexa: October 1 2007

There are no big changes discovered for the October Alexa installment of our AltPorn A-List Traffic and Popularity Study. The Alexa rankings are holding pretty steady with only a couple sites swapping places in ranking. No big jumps or falls to report this month. We still have not figured out the mystery explaining why Deviant Nation‘s Alexa rank is near the top of the chart while their certified Quantcast still remains near the bottom of the chart. There is some reemerging debate here about how qualified Naughty Flipside really is, given that their content, although still frequently hot, kind of misses the mark when it comes to authentic AltPorn. It seems a little more Alt as Halloween costume, but then again a lot of the adult video industry ‘AltPorn’ comes across that was to some of us. The jury is still out on that one.

QuantCast AltPorn A List Rankings September 2007

The leaves are starting to change and Fall appears to be here, and it’s time for our September QuantCast AltPorn A-List rankings report. Although there is no real massive shakeup, there has been some movement. Biggest winners this month are BrokenDollz, Blue Blood’s news and community site, and Fatal-Beauties.com (which is actually Blue Blood’s promotional site for FatalBeauty, through Blue Blood’s SpookyCash site promotional program.) Each of these sites gained three spots in the general monthly QuantCast AltPorn A-List rankings since last month. Also of note, CrazyBabe got another spike in traffic and moved into the second position again.

QuantCast seems to have made adjustments to eliminate the traffic/rankings anomaly we noticed last month, where actual quantified publishers such as AltPorn.net and Deviant Nation took a hit in rankings that seemed to be out of line with our estimated monthly traffic (EMV), but it looks like the result is that they may have simply lowered the estimate. We’re still scratching our heads on that.

Altporn A-List Alexa: September 1 2007

The September 1st installment of our AltPorn A-List Traffic and popularity study brings us almost no change in Alexa rankings for the top twenty AltPorn sites, other than NaughtyFlipside jumping up four spots. Otherwise, everything is pretty much in the same position it was last month. We’ve recently included AltPorn.net in the traffic measurement charts for good measure, so although it looks like everything below that new entry slipped a spot, it’s really only due to the new entry. So, it would appear, according to Alexa anyway, that things are holding pretty much steady in the AltPorn site world. It will be interesting to see if the same pattern holds true with the other measures we are adding to the mix of analysis tools.

Altporn A-List Alexa: August 1 2007

Here are the statistics for the August installment of our continuing AltPorn A-List Alexa traffic ranking study. Big winners this month are NaughtyFlipside, moving up seven spots, followed by Blue Blood’s punk site BarelyEvil, which rose a couple of spots. Entering the list at healthy spot number eight is Blue Blood’s fetish/alt latex site RubberDollies. Most everything else stayed steady or slid a bit. PunkPinups surprisingly seems to have fallen to the bottom of the list, despite what seems to be a fair amount of effort on their part.

Altporn ‘A’ List Alexa: July 1, 2007

It’s that time of the month again. Another installment of our famous Altporn ‘A’ List Alexa study. We dropped a couple sites from the list, since they seem to be no longer active, and added a couple new ones in their place, so welcome NaughtyFlipside.com and PunkPinups.com. We had a bit of a debate about adding the NaughtyFlipside site, since on the surface it appears to be a little less independent that some of the sites we traditionally cover might seem to be, but then decided that might be a bad set of rocks to start throwing in the proverbial glass house. Let’s just say it’s hard to nail down what exactly counts as really independent these days. A few sites we cover are very much doing it on their own and some of the others, well, not so much. So, for now, we’ve decided that quality of content and genre appropriateness is what counts for the purpose of this monthly study anyway. What are your thoughts? We’re always open to hearing constructive points of view from our readers.

AltPorn.net has isolated the domain registration dates as the logical earliest starting point for sites, as well as the Archive.org records as the latest third party documented historical record, in order to best establish a range within which sites could have logically launched. Then we contacted site owners and operators to nail down official dates within that range. This is the most complete and most accurate AltPorn genre historical timeline available and we hope you find it as interesting and even entertaining as we do.

These intentionally sort of raw pictures of sexy Apnea were shot by Ursulla Fredricka for Deviant Nation and also just appeared on Apneatic as well. You may remember a sample we posted when these went up on DN, but I just liked this shot a lot so I thought I’d mention that they are also up on Apneatic.com. Both sites have great stuff and I love to see talented people collaborate. Those boots are just so damn sexy and those cute little nipples drive me crazy.
