Forrest Black and April Flores discuss what it is like to be immortalized in a very unique way and Carlos Batts and Misha and I discuss their inspirations for their respective pieces and Carlos Batts’ vision for the show. The gallery was kind enough to let us shoot while they were closing up, after the huge crowd had dispersed, so it would be quiet enough to hear the interviews, although I think you can see them flicking the lights on and off once or twice to remind folks to exit the building and head out to Good Luck Bar. The video is directed by Forrest Black. Blue Blood theme music is by Tim Skold. APRIL FLORES TOY EXHIBIT

April Flores’ Love Toy is Canvas for Eight World-Renown Artists in Single Night Gallery Show

Hollywood, CA – Topco Sales & C. Batts FLY presents a unique, one-night-only exhibit featuring limited edition artist renditions of leading Big Beautiful Women (BBW) star April Flores’ Voluptuous CyberSkin Love Toy. Eight, world-renown, Los Angeles-based artists are designing one-of-a-kind creations, using plaster molds of the April Flores toy as their canvas. Participating artists include Axis, Carlos Batts, COOP, Jim Mahfood, Kime Buzzelli, Kozy & Dan, Misha, and Small Paul. The exhibit will take place on May 13th at La Luz de Jesus Gallery, and will be curated by Carlos Batts.

“Creative interpretations of the female anatomy are fundamental to art,” explains Carlos Batts, Curator. “Specifically, this project was inspired by the irony of Jeff Koons’ work and the playfulness of the Dunny movement, as well as by April herself. In this exhibit, April provides the blank canvas on which each artist has the opportunity to express his or her vision.”

April Flores has starred in numerous films and has been featured in countless magazines. Voted one of Fleshbot’s Crush Objects, she has a massive and rabid following within the BBW fan community. She is the first BBW star to be molded by Topco Sales.

“When Topco Sales molded April to make her toy, we knew we were breaking new ground. Partnering with her and C. Glamazons is the 3rd act in the documentary series directed by Carlos Batts. The series was initiated by the art film Alter Ego, internationally received followed Voluptuous Life. April and I first thought of this as an extension of the photography we’d created the first 4 years of our relationship. We shot so much, all the time; we just needed another medium to help document the speed at which we recorded our lives. After making Alter Ego we were hesitant about doing another video project because we were not trying to make a pseudo artist adult film, or gonzo porn. We just wanted to try to document our lives for artistic reasons. The video camera became a natural extension of the art.

Shot on the original location of the classic Russ Meyer film Faster Pussycat Kill Kill, Director Carlos Batts revisions the original film into a surreal sex odyssey.
