The fun people over at NoFauxxx just did one of their mass updates, posting lots of interesting and sexy stuff, featuring all sorts of cool girls and just the kinds of stuff we’ve come to expect and enjoy from them. I particularly like the sort of mechanic shots in the back of the old dirty trailer truck. Those look really sexy and fun.

It’s that time of the month again. Another installment of our famous Altporn ‘A’ List Alexa study. We dropped a couple sites from the list, since they seem to be no longer active, and added a couple new ones in their place, so welcome NaughtyFlipside.com and PunkPinups.com. We had a bit of a debate about adding the NaughtyFlipside site, since on the surface it appears to be a little less independent that some of the sites we traditionally cover might seem to be, but then decided that might be a bad set of rocks to start throwing in the proverbial glass house. Let’s just say it’s hard to nail down what exactly counts as really independent these days. A few sites we cover are very much doing it on their own and some of the others, well, not so much. So, for now, we’ve decided that quality of content and genre appropriateness is what counts for the purpose of this monthly study anyway. What are your thoughts? We’re always open to hearing constructive points of view from our readers.

Just under the wire, here is this month’s Altporn ‘A’ List Alexa chart. Of note this month, DeviantNation continues it’s rise up the charts, slipping past CrazyBabe. EroticBPM is up a few spots. CityKittie is looking pretty dead and SpicePlay is still closed up under redesign.

Here is the AltPorn History Timeline. AltPorn.net has isolated the domain registration dates as the logical earliest starting point for sites, as well as the Archive.org records as the latest third party documented historical record, in order to best establish a range within which sites could have logically launched. Then we contacted site owners and operators to nail down official dates within that range. This is the most complete and most accurate AltPorn genre historical timeline available and we hope you find it as interesting and even entertaining as we do.

According to MySpace, Trouble is on tour right now in Europe, so NoFauxxx will not be updated again until May.

But, they say you should be on the lookout, because when they get back, they promise insane updates including videos, new photo sets from your favorite models, and some other mysterious top secret plans for the future.

It’s really cool that No Fauxxx really does show a great deal of diversity in it’s models. Some people make noise about challenging traditional notions of popular popular body types, but then they go on to only really focus on whatever their personal thing is. But, No Fauxxx really does seem to manage a wide spectrum of content while maintaining a certain somewhat consistent look for their site.

These went up a while back on No Fauxxx, and somehow we managed to miss them when they went up, but they are worth checking out. The makeup and styling on the Trouble Royale look really nice and I like the mood of this series, and the Scream Club series is just making me jones for cake this morning.

On the whole, there are some really cool and interesting sites in the altporn genre and I think we’d all agree that there is also a great deal of hype swirling around it as well these days. So, Altporn.net is allowing me to embark on a series of articles regarding actual hard statistics, in an effort to make things a bit more clear to the people interested in having a better understanding of the reality.

This chart of Alexa ranking measurements for the top sites in the genre is designed to illustrate the relative popularity of the various core altporn membership driven sites. Alexa ranking, although not perfect, is one of the best available measures of site popularity across the entire internet. Alexa is not always precise, but it’s a pretty good ballpark measure. It’s a little tricky for those unfamilliar with it’s structure, but the explaination is really pretty easy to understand. Every site on the internet is essentially ranked in order from very most visited to very least visited, and the numbers start at one for most visited. Thus, the number one most visited site on the internet according to Alexa has an Alexa rank of 1. Currently Yahoo has an Alexa rank of 1, Microsoft MSN has a rank of 2, Google has a rank of 3, MySpace has a rank of 5, YouTube has a rank of 7… you probably get the picture.

So, without further more complicated discussion of Alexa data collection, here are the actual traffic rankings, or relative popularity, of the core sites in the genre.
