In case you’ve missed it, our friends over at Fleshbot recently held their first annual Fleshbot Awards in a stylish New York club called The Box, and from all Twitter reports it was an entertaining if a little bizarre night. Sasha Gray (not attending) shared crossover porn/mainstream honors with Levi Johnston (attending). Yes, the non son-in-law of the former governor of Alaska Sarah ‘Nailin’ Palin and future Playgirl pin-up was there to enjoy the smutty accolades along with the rest of the usual suspects. Sexiest advertising award went to American Apparel and sexiest TV Show went to True Blood, so make of all that what you will. Congratulations do go out to Joanna Angel who was there along with her sexy party girls and walked away with the Fan Choice Award for being this year’s Sexiest Female, although I’d hate to see what would happen if a site’s Supreme Commandress didn’t get a win. From the looks of the amount of Swag you girls already have rolling in for the big NYC release party on November 6th, you could outfit a small nation of sexed up literati. Not to take away anything from the genuinely brainy writers featured in this project, I do have to wonder sometimes if we’ve reached the point yet where calling nearly every female sex blogger an intellectual comes across about as condescending as calling an athlete articulate.
The 2010 NYC Sex Blogger Calendar is unique in bringing together several of NYC’s writers, filmmakers and sex educators with twelve outstanding photographers and incorporating the participation of the larger sex-positive commUNITY to our efforts to support Sex Work Awareness. Last year’s calendar made the Speak Up! media training for sex workers possible and with our commUNITY’s continued support, who knows what we can accomplish this year!
A while back, I wrote a post about how Blue Blood’s Amelia G was speaking on a panel at Vampire Con and then she and Blue Blood’s Forrest Black were setting up a location studio at the closing party. The pictures they shot that night are now up in a free Vampire Con portrait gallery, along with a write-up of the event written by Amelia G. I laughed out loud at the humorous part of the article where she talks about meeting Dennis Hof from HBO’s Cathouse show there. I watch Cathouse from time to time and it is about the goings-on at a swanky legal brothel called The Bunny Ranch in Nevada. It seems Dennis Hof brought a Transylvanian escort to Vampire Con and she was one of the many people photographed in the Blue Blood event studio that night.
Amelia G from Blue Blood will be speaking at Vampire-Con this weekend on a panel called Hot-Blooded: Vampires & Sexuality at 1pm at the Henry Fonda Theater. Sunday night, from approximately 8:30pm to 1am, Blue Blood’s Amelia G and Forrest Black will have a location studio set up on the roof at Vampirella’s Ball to photograph the most fabulous attendees. As a big fan of True Blood, Twilight, and Amelia G and Forrest Black’s photography, I will be looking forward to those pictures. (pic below is from the VampireCon, not Blue Blood)
It is no secret that I love the vampire genre. I received Honors at Wesleyan University for my thesis on vampire legends as a paradigm for aggressive human sexuality. And I would like the record to show that I will be speaking on exactly that topic this weekend at Vampire Con in Hollywood. I’ll be taking part in the panel programming Sunday afternoon, after the movie nights, and before Vampirella’s Ball (more on this in a moment.) I’m excited that Wendi Mirabella and Lotti Pharriss Knowles have put Vampire-Con together.
The panel I am on is called Hot-Blooded: Vampires & Sexuality and is at 1pm at the Henry Fonda Theater on Hollywood Blvd. It will be moderated by David J. Skal, Author of Hollywood Gothic and V Is For Vampire: The A-Z Guide Of Everything Undead. I’m especially excited that Pam Keesey, who I’m looking forward to catching up with will be on the panel. She is the editor of multiple anthologies of lesbian vampire tales, Women Who Run with the Werewolves: Tales of Blood, Lust, and Metamorphosis, and Vamps: An Illustrated History of the Femme Fatale. Pam Keesey has a very engaging personality, has published yours truly, and once gave me a tour of Forrest Ackerman’s memorabilia collection. Other panelists are Hal Bodner, author of Bite Club: A West Hollywood Vampire Tale, filmmaker Fred Olen Ray from The Lair, actress Celeste Yarnall, best known at a vamp convention for her role in The Velvet Vampire, but who has appeared in everything from Melrose Place to Star Trek, and best-selling author, comic book writer, and filmmaker Donald F. Glut who recently directed the Elizabeth Bathory-inspired movie Blood Scarab. And we’ll be talking about vampire sex.
That evening, at the same venue, from 8:30pm to 1am, there will be Vampirella’s Ball. The music will be provided by DJ Xian and DJ Gary Calamar, music supervisor of HBO’s True Blood and KCRW radio DJ. Vampire Con describes the appropriate attire saying, “Costumes are thoroughly encouraged – Vampires, Victorian, Edwardian, Steampunk, Bohemian, Tribal, Gypsy.”
Forrest Black and I will have a location studio set up to photograph people involved in the event, revelers who most exemplify the themes of the event, and our close personal friends (i.e. not everyone, but photographic subjects best for doing press coverage on Vampire Con.) If we know you from online, please come find us on the roof Sunday night (or at my panel during the day) and say hello and where we know you from. April Flores’ Love Toy is Canvas for Eight World-Renown Artists in Single Night Gallery Show
Topco Sales presents a unique, one-night-only exhibit featuring limited edition artist renditions of leading Big Beautiful Women (BBW) star April Flores’ Voluptuous CyberSkin Love Toy. Eight, world-renown, Los Angeles-based artists are designing one-of-a-kind creations, using plaster molds of the April Flores toy as their canvas. "Specifically, this project was inspired by the irony of Jeff Koons’ work and the playfulness of the Dunny movement, as well as by April herself. In this exhibit, April provides the blank canvas on which each artist has the opportunity to express his or her vision."
April Flores has starred in numerous films and has been featured in countless magazines. Voted one of Fleshbot’s Crush Objects, she has a massive and rabid following within the BBW fan community. She is the first BBW star to be molded by Topco Sales.

We got the notice on this a little too late to get our papers in order this year, but this will definitely be on my travel wish list come next January. The Amsterdam Alternative Erotica Film Festival just ran, from January 15th through the 18th, in Roetersstraat Amsterdam. This is the second one that they have done, annually, and the event is growing very quickly. The list of screenings and panels is very impressive and looks like a great time with some really unique and creative things to see and experience. Lots of artist/director talks, performances, and as always, too many hot looking after parties for one weekend. Check out the site, it’s got a lot of little video interviews from the event. Maybe we’ll see you there next year.

Congratulations to our AltPorn video compatriots, looks like you guys did a little better this year. Jack the Zipper won Best Director (Non-Feature) for Blacklight Beauty, which also by some rare twist actually tied with VCA’s Neu Wave Hookers for Best All Sex Release. Joanna’s Angels 2: Alt Throttle managed to win Best Sex Comedy. I hope they knew it was a comedy when they were making it. Special shout out goes to our friend Buck Angel for taking home the Transsexual Performer of the Year, although I think they might need to split that out into FTM and MTF at some point. Oh yes, and my personal favorite category, Most Outrageous Sex Scene, went to Girlvert 11 for it’s “Meat Is Murder” scene featuring Ashley Blue, Amber Wild & Steve French.
