PureTaboo: Apocalyptic Choices

For the great public, Porn in general is associated with movies that lack any plot or structure and where the scene is mostly a setup in order to show sex. PureTaboo has already proven in many occasions how this is not necessarily the case, but “Don’t Panic!” is a particularly good example.

USA, some near future: a couple is about to go home from a date when strange lights appear in the sky, causing a breakdown of all technology and ultimately a fall of civilization as we know it. Logan Pierce and Elena Koshka find themselves in a post-apocalyptic world with no technology and no law, forced to survive on scraps. It’s an all-man-for-himself, where food is scarce and bonds are easily broken. Looking for resources, the couple stumbles upon Dick Chibbles and his stash of canned food. What price will they be willing to pay for it?

The Apocalyptic genre has seen many incarnations on the screen – especially in its zombie sub-genre – but the moral dilemmas posed mostly revolved around violence. Due to a social taboo (rather difficult to understand, to be honest), the sexual implications of this kind of situations are usually skipped. This movie has all the trappings and quality of a “short movie” and covers the facet perfectly.
